From there flow rivers bearing sanctifying waters, O upholder of the Kuru line—by the hundreds of thousands—where Vāsava (Indra) sends rain.

english translation

Neither their names nor their measures can be fully enumerated; for those excellent rivers are indeed sanctifying.

english translation

There are four sanctified regions there, approved by common report: the Magas, the Maśakas, the Mānasas, and likewise the Mandagas.

english translation

The Magas are predominantly brāhmaṇa-like and devoted to their own duties, O king. Among the Maśakas, the rājanya class is dharmic and provides all desired goods.

english translation

Among the Mānasas, O great king, the vaiśyas live by their occupations; they possess all necessities, are courageous, and are resolved upon dharma and artha. In Mandaga, the śūdras are always persons of dharmic conduct.
