हङ्कारेण बहिर्याति सःकारेण विशेत्पुनः I षट्शतानि दिवारात्रौ सहस्राण्येकविंशतिः । अजपां नाम गायत्रीं जीवो जपति सर्वदा ॥५-८६॥

With the sound of the word ‘Ham’ the vital air enters the body and with the sound of the word ‘Sa’ the vital air comes out of the body. In this way a person chants this Gayatri named Ajapa twenty one thousand six hundred (21600) times in a day (day and night).

मूलाऽऽधारे यथा हंसस्तथा हि हृदि पङ्कजे । तथा नासापुटद्वन्द्वे त्रिभिर्हंससमागमः ॥५-८७॥

sanskrit

The movement of 'Hans' (Ham and Sa) mentioned above comes and goes through the Muladhar Chakra, the heart region and both the nostrils i.e. the confluence of these three.

षण्णवत्यङ्गुलीमानं शरीरं कर्मरूपकम् । देहाद्बहिर्गतो वायुः स्वभावाद्द्वादशाङ्गुलिः ॥५-८८॥

The length of this body, the basis of all actions, is sixty-sixth of angul (this length is according to the person's own fingers). Generally, its length or distance while coming out of the body is twelve fingers (12).

गायने षोडशाङ्गुल्यो भोजने विंशतिस्तथा । चतुर्विंशाङ्गुलिः पन्थे निद्रायां त्रिंशदङ्गुलिः । मैथुने षट्त्रिंशदुक्तं व्यायामे च ततोऽधिकम् ॥५-८९॥

While singing any kind of song, its length is sixteen fingers (16), while eating, this distance becomes twenty fingers (20). While walking, its distance is twenty-four fingers (24), while sleeping this distance is thirty fingers (30). During sexual intercourse, this distance becomes even more i.e. thirty-six fingers (36) and while doing physical exercise, this distance becomes even more.

In this way, naturally, if the speed i.e. distance of the air is less, the life span is more (longer) and the greater this speed i.e. distance, the greater will be the loss of life (age will decrease) of the human being.
