स्नेहस्वेदादिकस्तस्मिन्निष्टो वातहरः क्रमः । अभ्यज्य नवनीतेन श्वेतलोध्रं प्रलेपयेत् ॥११॥
In cases of excessive scraping, therapeutic measures such as oleation (snehan), sudation/fomentation (swedan), and other regimens that specifically pacify Vata (vāta-hara) are recommended. A piece of shweta lodhra (Symplocos racemosa) is anointed thoroughly with fresh butter and then coated completely with a thick paste made from the roots of eranda (Ricinus communis).

It is then wrapped and cooked using the puṭapāka method (sealed in leaves and clay, then heated in fire). Once properly steamed/cooked (svinna), it is washed clean, dried, pulverized into a fine powder, and tied securely inside a cloth bundle or poultice (poṭalī).

This cloth bundle is then macerated or squeezed with either human breast milk or goat’s milk to yield drops for irrigating/instilling into the eye (netra-sechana). Similarly, the same shweta lodhra is coated with a paste of shali rice grains (Shali tandula) and processed in the exact same manner (putapaka method).

The resulting prepared powder is macerated with curd whey (dadhi-mastu) and applied as eye drops to treat an eyelid that has been excessively scraped (atilikhta). Alternatively, in patients who habitually consume meat from animals of arid/desert regions (jangala-ashina), the eye may be irrigated or bathed with plain curd whey alone.

Hard and elevated eruptions should be pricked with Vrihimukha Shastra (Trocar) and their contents squeezed out, afterwards Parisheka (bathing the eye) is done as described earlier.
