There are instant death-inducing marmas, which are fiery in nature and quickly cause deterioration; then there are gradually lethal marmas, which are gentle and weaken over time due to a mix of fiery and lunar qualities. Wound-destroying marmas are associated with air; as long as the air stays inside, life continues. Once a wound is opened, the life force exits from the marma, leading to death. Disability-inducing marmas have gentle properties that promote stability and vitality; they support the life force. Pain-inducing marmas exhibit strong qualities of fire and air, causing severe pain.
