Sushruta Samhita
ततः क्षते मर्मणि ताः प्रवृद्धः समन्ततो वायुरभिस्तृणोति । विवर्धमानस्तु स मातरिश्वा रुजः सुतीव्राः प्रतनोति काये ॥१९॥
Then, when the marma is injured, the wind (Vayu) spreads everywhere and causes pain. The powerful wind, known as Matarishva, produces intense suffering in the body.
english translation
तब जब मर्म क्षतिग्रस्त होता है, तब वायु चारों ओर फैलती है और पीड़ा उत्पन्न करती है। शक्तिशाली वायु, जिसे मातरिश्वा कहा जाता है, शरीर में तीव्र दर्द उत्पन्न करती है।
