Now, we shall describe the specifications of the instruments: The instrument should be made of iron, bone, horn, or wood, measuring four fingerbreadths in length and five fingerbreadths in circumference for men, and six fingerbreadths in circumference for women. It should have two openings for visibility and one opening for operation; with a single opening, there is no risk of the instrument, caustic agents, or fire being misused. The diameter of the openings should be three fingerbreadths, and the remaining length of the instrument should be half a fingerbreadth beneath the half-fingerbreadth upper edge of the instrument. This is the general specification for the instrument.
