एवं सहस्रवदनाङ्घ्रिशिरःकरोरुनासास्यकर्णनयनाभरणायुधाढ्यं मायामयं सदुपलक्षितसन्निवेशं दृष्ट्वा महापुरुषमाप मुदं विरिञ्चः ।। ७-९-३६ ।।

Lord Brahmā could then see You possessing thousands and thousands of faces, feet, heads, hands, thighs, noses, ears and eyes. You were very nicely dressed, being decorated and bedecked with varieties of ornaments and weapons. Seeing You in the form of Lord Viṣṇu, Your symptoms and form being transcendental, Your legs extending from the lower planets, Lord Brahmā achieved transcendental bliss. ।। 7-9-36 ।।

english translation

तब ब्रह्माजी ने आपको हजारों मुखों, पाँवों, सिरों, हाथों, जांघो, नाकों, कानों तथा आँखों से युक्त देखा। आप भलीभाँति वस्त्र धारण किये थे और नाना प्रकार के आभूषणों तथा आयुधों से सुशोभित थे। आपको विष्णु रूप में देखकर तथा आपके दिव्य लक्षणों एवं अधोलोकों से फैले हुए आपके चरणों को देखकर ब्रह्माजी को दिव्य आनन्द प्राप्त हुआ। ।। ७-९-३६ ।।

तस्मै भवान् हयशिरस्तनुवं हि बिभ्रद्वेदद्रुहावतिबलौ मधुकैटभाख्यौ । हत्वाऽऽनयच्छ्रुतिगणांस्तु रजस्तमश्च सत्त्वं तव प्रियतमां तनुमामनन्ति ।। ७-९-३७ ।।

My dear Lord, when You appeared as Hayagrīva, with the head of a horse, You killed two demons known as Madhu and Kaiṭabha, who were full of the modes of passion and ignorance. Then You delivered the Vedic knowledge to Lord Brahmā. For this reason, all the great saints accept Your forms as transcendental, untinged by material qualities. ।। 7-9-37 ।।

english translation

हे भगवान्, जब आप घोड़े का शिर धारण करके हयग्रीव रूप में प्रकट हुए तो आपने रजो तथा तमो गुणों से पूर्ण मधु तथा कैटभ नामक दो असुरों का संहार किया। फिर आपने ब्रह्मा को वैदिक ज्ञान प्रदान किया। इसी कारण से सारे महान् ऋषिगण आपके रूपों को दिव्य अर्थात् भौतिक गुणों से अछूता मानते हैं। ।। ७-९-३७ ।।

इत्थं नृतिर्यगृषिदेवझषावतारैर्लोकान् विभावयसि हंसि जगत्प्रतीपान् । धर्मं महापुरुष पासि युगानुवृत्तं छन्नः कलौ यदभवस्त्रियुगोऽथ स त्वम् ।। ७-९-३८ ।।

In this way, my Lord, You appear in various incarnations as a human being, an animal, a great saint, a demigod, a fish or a tortoise, thus maintaining the entire creation in different planetary systems and killing the demoniac principles. According to the age, O my Lord, You protect the principles of religion. In the Age of Kali, however, You do not assert Yourself as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and therefore You are known as Triyuga, or the Lord who appears in three yugas. ।। 7-9-38 ।।

हे प्रभु, इस प्रकार आप विभिन्न अवतारों में जैसे मनुष्य, पशु, ऋषि, देवता, मत्स्य या कच्छप के रूप में प्रकट होते हैं और इस प्रकार से विभिन्न लोकों में सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि का पालन करते हैं तथा आसुरीं सिद्धन्तों का वध करते हैं। हे भगवान्, आप युग के अनुसार धार्मिक सिद्धान्तों की रक्षा करते हैं। किन्तु कलियुग में आप स्वयं को भगवान् के रूप में घोषित नहीं करते। इसलिए आप ‘त्रियुग’ कहलाते हैं, अर्थात् तीन युगों में प्रकट होने वाले भगवान्। ।। ७-९-३८ ।।

नैतन्मनस्तव कथासु विकुण्ठनाथ सम्प्रीयते दुरितदुष्टमसाधु तीव्रम् । कामातुरं हर्षशोकभयैषणार्तं तस्मिन् कथं तव गतिं विमृशामि दीनः ।। ७-९-३९ ।।

My dear Lord of the Vaikuṇṭha planets, where there is no anxiety, my mind is extremely sinful and lusty, being sometimes so-called happy and sometimes so-called distressed. My mind is full of lamentation and fear, and it always seeks more and more money. Thus it has become most polluted and is never satisfied in topics concerning You. I am therefore most fallen and poor. In such a status of life, how shall I be able to discuss Your activities? ।। 7-9-39 ।।

english translation

चिन्तारहित वैकुण्ठलोकों के स्वामी, मेरा मन अत्यन्त पापी तथा कामी है, कभी यह सुखी कहलाता है, तो कभी दुखी है। मेरा मन शोक तथा भय से पूर्ण है और सदैव अधिकाधिक धन की खोज में रहता है। इस तरह यह अत्यधिक दूषित गया है और आपकी कथाओं से कभी तुष्ट नहीं होता। अतएव मैं अत्यन्त पतित तथा दलित हूँ। ऐसी जीवन-स्थिति में भला मैं आपके कार्यकलापों की व्याख्या करने में किस तरह समर्थ हो सकता हूँ? ।। ७-९-३९ ।।

जिह्वैकतोऽच्युत विकर्षति मावितृप्ता शिश्नोऽन्यतस्त्वगुदरं श्रवणं कुतश्चित् । घ्राणोऽन्यतश्चपलदृक् क्व च कर्मशक्तिर्बह्व्यः सपत्न्य इव गेहपतिं लुनन्ति ।। ७-९-४० ।।

My dear Lord, O infallible one, my position is like that of a person who has many wives, all trying to attract him in their own way. For example, the tongue is attracted to palatable dishes, the genitals to sex with an attractive woman, and the sense of touch to contact with soft things. The belly, although filled, still wants to eat more, and the ear, not attempting to hear about You, is generally attracted to cinema songs. The sense of smell is attracted to yet another side, the restless eyes are attracted to scenes of sense gratification, and the active senses are attracted elsewhere. In this way I am certainly embarrassed. ।। 7-9-40 ।।

हे अच्युत भगवान्, मेरी दशा उस पुरुष की भाँति है, जिसकी कई पत्नियाँ हों और वे सभी उसे अपने अपने ढंग से आकर्षित करने का प्रयास कर रही हों। उदाहरणार्थ, जीभ स्वादिष्ट व्यंजनों की ओर आकृष्ट होती है, जननेन्द्रियाँ किसी आकर्षक स्त्री के साथ संभोग करने के लिए और स्पर्श इन्द्रियाँ मुलायम वस्तुओं का स्पर्श करने के लिए आकृष्ट होती हैं। पेट भरा रहने पर भी अधिक खाना चाहता है और कान आपके विषय में न सुन कर सामान्यत: सिनेमा गीतों की ओर आकृष्ट होते हैं। घ्राण की इन्द्रिय किसी अन्य ओर ही आकृष्ट होती है, चंचल आँखें इन्द्रियतृप्ति के दृश्यों की ओर आकृष्ट होती हैं तथा सक्रिय इन्द्रियाँ अन्यत्र आकृष्ट होती हैं। इस तरह मैं सचमुच ही दुविधा में रहता हूँ। ।। ७-९-४० ।।
