सपत्नैर्घातितः क्षुद्रैर्भ्राता मे दयितः सुहृत् । पार्ष्णिग्राहेण हरिणा समेनाप्युपधावनैः ॥ ७-२-६ ॥
My insignificant enemies the demigods have combined to kill my very dear and obedient well-wisher, my brother Hiraṇyākṣa. Although the Supreme Lord, Viṣṇu, is always equal to both of us — namely, the demigods and the demons — this time, being devoutly worshiped by the demigods, He has taken their side and helped them kill Hiraṇyākṣa. ॥ 7-2-6 ॥

मेरे क्षुद्र शत्रु सारे देवता मेरे परम प्रिय तथा आज्ञाकारी शुभेच्छु भ्राता हिरण्याक्ष को मारने के लिए एक हो गये हैं। यद्यपि परमेश्वर विष्णु हम दोनों के लिए अर्थात् देवताओं तथा असुरों के लिए सदैव समान हैं किन्तु इस बार देवताओं द्वारा अत्यधिक पूजित होने से उन्होंने उनका पक्ष लिया और हिरण्याक्ष को मारने में उनकी सहायता की। ॥ ७-२-६ ॥

तस्य त्यक्तस्वभावस्य घृणेर्मायावनौकसः । भजन्तं भजमानस्य बालस्येवास्थिरात्मनः ॥ ७-२-७ ॥
The Supreme Personality of Godhead has given up His natural tendency of equality toward the demons and demigods. Although He is the Supreme Person, now, influenced by māyā, He has assumed the form of a boar to please His devotees, the demigods, just as a restless child leans toward someone. ॥ 7-2-7 ॥

भगवान् ने असुरों तथा देवताओं के प्रति समानता की अपनी सहज प्रवृत्ति त्याग दी है। यद्यपि वे परम पुरुष हैं, किन्तु अब माया के वशीभूत होकर उन्होंने अपने भक्तों अर्थात् देवताओं को प्रसन्न करने के लिए वराह का रूप धारण किया है, जिस तरह एक अशान्त बालक किसी की ओर उन्मुख हो जाये। ॥ ७-२-७ ॥

मच्छूलभिन्नग्रीवस्य भूरिणा रुधिरेण वै । रुधिरप्रियं तर्पयिष्ये भ्रातरं मे गतव्यथः ॥ ७-२-८ ॥
I shall therefore sever Lord Viṣṇu’s head from His trunk by my trident, and with the profuse blood from His body I shall please my brother Hiraṇyākṣa, who was so fond of sucking blood. Thus shall I too be peaceful. ॥ 7-2-8 ॥

अतएव मैं अपने त्रिशूल से भगवान् विष्णु के सिर को उनके धड़ से अलग कर दूँगा और उनके शरीर से निकले प्रचुर रक्त से अपने भाई हिरण्याक्ष को प्रसन्न करूँगा जो उनके रक्त को चूसने का शौकीन था। इस प्रकार मैं भी शान्त हो सकूँगा। ॥ ७-२-८ ॥

तस्मिन् कूटेऽहिते नष्टे कृत्तमूले वनस्पतौ । विटपा इव शुष्यन्ति विष्णुप्राणा दिवौकसः ॥ ७-२-९ ॥
When the root of a tree is cut and the tree falls down, its branches and twigs automatically dry up. Similarly, when I have killed this diplomatic Viṣṇu, the demigods, for whom Lord Viṣṇu is the life and soul, will lose the source of their life and wither away. ॥ 7-2-9 ॥

जब वृक्ष की जड़ काट दी जाती है, तो वह गिर पड़ता है और उसकी शाखायें एवं पत्तियाँ स्वयमेव सूख जाती हैं। उसी तरह जब मैं इस मायावी विष्णु को मार डालूँगा तो सारे देवता, जिनके लिए भगवान् विष्णु प्राण तथा आत्मा हैं, अपना जीवन-स्रोत खो देंगे और मुरझा जाएँगे। ॥ ७-२-९ ॥

तावद्यात भुवं यूयं विप्रक्षत्रसमेधिताम् । सूदयध्वं तपोयज्ञस्वाध्यायव्रतदानिनः ॥ ७-२-१० ॥
While I am engaged in the business of killing Lord Viṣṇu, go down to the planet earth, which is flourishing due to brahminical culture and a kṣatriya government. These people engage in austerity, sacrifice, Vedic study, regulative vows, and charity. Destroy all the people thus engaged! ॥ 7-2-10 ॥

जब तक मैं भगवान् विष्णु के मारने के कार्य में लगा हूँ, तब तक तुम लोग पृथ्वी लोक में जाओ जो ब्राह्मण संस्कृति तथा क्षत्रिय शासन के कारण फल-फूल रहा है। ये लोग तपस्या, यज्ञ, वैदिक अध्ययन, आनुष्ठानिक व्रत तथा दान में लगे रहते हैं। ऐसे सारे लोगों को जाकर विनष्ट कर दो। ॥ ७-२-१० ॥
