सुमालिमालिप्रमुखाः कार्तस्वरपरिच्छदाः । प्रतिषिध्येन्द्रसेनाग्रं मृत्योरपि दुरासदम् ॥ ६-१०-२१ ॥
demi-demons, Yakṣas, Rākṣasas [man-eaters] and others, headed by Sumāli and Māli, resisted the armies of King Indra, which even death personified cannot easily overcome. ॥ 6-10-21 ॥

यक्षों, राक्षसों (मनुष्य-भक्षकों) तथा सुमालि, मालि आदि अन्यों ने राजा इन्द्र की सेनाओं को रोका जिन्हें साक्षात् काल भी नहीं जीत सकता था। ॥ ६-१०-२१ ॥

अभ्यर्दयन्नसम्भ्रान्ताः सिंहनादेन दुर्मदाः । गदाभिः परिघैर्बाणैः प्रासमुद्गरतोमरैः ॥ ६-१०-२२ ॥
Roaring tumultuously and fearlessly like lions, these invincible demons, all dressed in golden ornaments, gave pain to the demigods with weapons like clubs, bludgeons, arrows, barbed darts, mallets and lances. ॥ 6-10-22 ॥

ये अजेय असुर स्वर्णाभूषणों से भूषित होकर सिंह के समान निर्भीक होकर घोर नाद कर रहे थे और गदा, परिघ, बाण, प्रास, मुद्गर तथा तोमर जैसे हथियारों से देवताओं को पीड़ा पहुँचा रहे थे। ॥ ६-१०-२२ ॥

शूलैः परश्वधैः खड्गैः शतघ्नीभिर्भुशुण्डिभिः । सर्वतोऽवाकिरन् शस्त्रैरस्त्रैश्च विबुधर्षभान् ॥ ६-१०-२३ ॥
Armed with lances, tridents, axes, swords and other weapons like śataghnīs and bhuśuṇḍis, the demons attacked from different directions and scattered all the chiefs of the demigod armies. ॥ 6-10-23 ॥

बर्छों, त्रिशूलों, फरसों, तलवारों तथा शतघ्नी एवं भुशुण्डी जैसे अन्य हथियारों से सुसज्जित होकर असुरों ने विभिन्न दिशाओं से आक्रमण कर दिया और देवताओं की सेना के समस्त नायकों को तितर-बितर कर दिया। ॥ ६-१०-२३ ॥

न तेऽदृश्यन्त सञ्छन्नाः शरजालैः समन्ततः । पुङ्खानुपुङ्खपतितैर्ज्योतींषीव नभोघनैः ॥ ६-१०-२४ ॥
As the stars in the sky cannot be seen when covered by dense clouds, the demigods, being completely covered by networks of arrows falling upon them one after another, could not be seen. ॥ 6-10-24 ॥

जिस प्रकार घने बादलों के आकाश में छा जाने के बाद तारे नहीं दिखाई पड़ते उसी प्रकार एक के बाद एक गिरने वाले बाणों के जाल से पूर्णतया आच्छादित हो जाने से देवतागण दिखाई नहीं पड़ रहे थे। ॥ ६-१०-२४ ॥

न ते शस्त्रास्त्रवर्षौघा ह्यासेदुः सुरसैनिकान् । छिन्नाः सिद्धपथे देवैर्लघुहस्तैः सहस्रधा ॥ ६-१०-२५ ॥
The showers of various weapons and arrows released to kill the soldiers of the demigods did not reach them because the demigods, acting quickly, cut the weapons into thousands of pieces in the sky. ॥ 6-10-25 ॥
english translation
देवताओं की सेना को मारने के लिए हथियारों तथा बाणों के द्वारा की गई वर्षा उन तक नहीं पहुँच पाई, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने हस्तलाघव से आकाश में इन हथियारों को काटकर खण्ड-खण्ड कर दिया। ॥ ६-१०-२५ ॥
