Srimad Bhagavatam
ततोऽभवन्महत्तत्त्वमव्यक्तात्कालचोदितात् । विज्ञानात्माऽऽत्मदेहस्थं विश्वं व्यञ्जंस्तमोनुदः ॥ ३-५-२७ ॥
Thereafter, influenced by the interactions of eternal time, the supreme sum total of matter, called the mahat-tattva, became manifested, and in this mahat-tattva the unalloyed goodness, the Supreme Lord, sowed the seeds of universal manifestation out of His own body. ॥ 3-5-27 ॥
english translation
तत्पश्चात् नित्यकाल की अन्त:क्रियाओं से प्रभावित पदार्थ का परम सार, जो कि महत् तत्त्व कहलाता है, प्रकट हुआ और इस महत् तत्त्व में शुद्ध सत्त्व अर्थात् भगवान् ने अपने शरीर से ब्रह्माण्ड अभिव्यक्ति के बीज बोये। ॥ ३-५-२७ ॥
