पुरा मया प्रोक्तमजाय नाभ्ये पद्मे निषण्णाय ममादिसर्गे । ज्ञानं परं मन्महिमावभासं यत्सूरयो भागवतं वदन्ति ॥ ३-४-१३ ॥
O Uddhava, in the lotus millennium in the days of yore, at the beginning of the creation, I spoke unto Brahmā, who is situated on the lotus that grows out of My navel, about My transcendental glories, which the great sages describe as Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. ॥ 3-4-13 ॥
english translation
हे उद्धव, प्राचीन काल में कमल कल्प में, सृष्टि के प्रारम्भ में मैंने अपनी नाभि से उगे हुए कमल पर स्थित ब्रह्मा से अपनी उस दिव्य महिमाओं के विषय में बतलाया था, जिसे बड़े-बड़े मुनि श्रीमद्भागवत कहते हैं। ॥ ३-४-१३ ॥
