निरभिद्यतास्य प्रथमं मुखं वाणी ततोऽभवत् । वाण्या वह्निरथो नासे प्राणोऽतो घ्राण एतयोः ॥ ३-२६-५४ ॥
First of all a mouth appeared in Him, and then came forth the organ of speech, and with it the god of fire, the deity who presides over that organ. Then a pair of nostrils appeared, and in them appeared the olfactory sense, as well as prāṇa, the vital air. ॥ 3-26-54 ॥
english translation
सर्वप्रथम उनके मुख प्रकट हुआ और फिर वागेन्द्रिय और इसी के साथ अग्नि देव प्रकट हुए जो इस इन्द्रिय के अधिष्ठाता देव हैं। तब दो नथुने प्रकट हुए और उनमें घ्राणेन्द्रिय तथा प्राण प्रकट हुए। ॥ ३-२६-५४ ॥
