भूतानां छिद्रदातृत्वं बहिरन्तरमेव च । प्राणेन्द्रियात्मधिष्ण्यत्वं नभसो वृत्तिलक्षणम् ।। ३-२६-३४ ‌‌।।

The activities and characteristics of the ethereal element can be observed as the accommodation of room for the external and internal existences of all living entities, namely the field of activities of the vital air, the senses and the mind. ।। 3-26-34 ।।

english translation

समस्त जीवों को उनके बाह्य तथा आन्तरिक अस्तित्व के लिए अवकाश (स्थान) प्रदान करना, जैसे कि प्राणवायु, इन्द्रिय एवं मन का कार्यक्षेत्र—ये आकाश तत्त्व के कार्य तथा लक्षण हैं। ।। ३-२६-३४ ।।
