शौनक उवाच पैलादिभिर्व्यासशिष्यैर्वेदाचार्यैर्महात्मभिः । वेदाश्च कथिता व्यस्ता एतत्सौम्याभिधेहि नः ।। १२-६-३६ ।।

sanskrit

Śaunaka Ṛṣi said: O gentle Sūta, please narrate to us how Paila and the other greatly intelligent disciples of Śrīla Vyāsadeva, who are known as the standard authorities of Vedic wisdom, spoke and edited the Vedas. ।। 12-6-36 ।।

english translation

शौनक ऋषि ने कहा: हे सौम्य सूत, कृपया हमें बताएं कि पैला और श्रील व्यासदेव के अन्य अत्यंत बुद्धिमान शिष्य, जो वैदिक ज्ञान के मानक प्राधिकारी के रूप में जाने जाते हैं, ने वेदों को कैसे बोला और संपादित किया। ।। १२-६-३६ ।।

सूत उवाच समाहितात्मनो ब्रह्मन् ब्रह्मणः परमेष्ठिनः । हृद्याकाशादभून्नादो वृत्तिरोधाद्विभाव्यते ।। १२-६-३७ ।।

sanskrit

Sūta Gosvāmī said: O brāhmaṇa, first the subtle vibration of transcendental sound appeared from the sky of the heart of the most elevated Lord Brahmā, whose mind was perfectly fixed in spiritual realization. One can perceive this subtle vibration when one stops all external hearing. ।। 12-6-37 ।।

english translation

सूत गोस्वामी ने कहा: हे ब्राह्मण, सबसे पहले दिव्य ध्वनि का सूक्ष्म कंपन परम श्रेष्ठ भगवान ब्रह्मा के हृदय के आकाश से प्रकट हुआ, जिनका मन पूरी तरह से आध्यात्मिक अनुभूति में स्थिर था। कोई व्यक्ति इस सूक्ष्म कंपन को तब महसूस कर सकता है जब वह सभी बाहरी श्रवण बंद कर देता है। ।। १२-६-३७ ।।

यदुपासनया ब्रह्मन् योगिनो मलमात्मनः । द्रव्यक्रियाकारकाख्यं धूत्वा यान्त्यपुनर्भवम् ।। १२-६-३८ ।।

sanskrit

By worship of this subtle form of the Vedas, O brāhmaṇa, mystic sages cleanse their hearts of all contamination caused by impurity of substance, activity and doer, and thus they attain freedom from repeated birth and death. ।। 12-6-38 ।।

english translation

हे ब्राह्मण, वेदों के इस सूक्ष्म रूप की पूजा करके, रहस्यवादी ऋषि अपने हृदय को पदार्थ, गतिविधि और कर्ता की अशुद्धता के कारण होने वाले सभी प्रदूषण से शुद्ध करते हैं, और इस प्रकार वे बार-बार जन्म और मृत्यु से मुक्ति प्राप्त करते हैं। ।। १२-६-३८ ।।

ततोऽभूत्त्रिवृदोङ्कारो योऽव्यक्तप्रभवः स्वराट् । यत्तल्लिङ्गं भगवतो ब्रह्मणः परमात्मनः ।। १२-६-३९ ।।

From that transcendental subtle vibration arose the oṁkāra composed of three sounds. The oṁkāra has unseen potencies and manifests automatically within a purified heart. It is the representation of the Absolute Truth in all three of His phases — the Supreme Personality, the Supreme Soul and the supreme impersonal truth. ।। 12-6-39 ।।

english translation

उस पारलौकिक सूक्ष्म कंपन से तीन ध्वनियों से बना ओंकार उत्पन्न हुआ। ओंकार में अदृश्य शक्तियाँ हैं और यह शुद्ध हृदय में स्वतः ही प्रकट हो जाता है। यह उनके तीनों चरणों - सर्वोच्च व्यक्तित्व, परमात्मा और सर्वोच्च अवैयक्तिक सत्य - में पूर्ण सत्य का प्रतिनिधित्व है। ।। १२-६-३९ ।।

श‍ृणोति य इमं स्फोटं सुप्तश्रोत्रे च शून्यदृक् । येन वाग्व्यज्यते यस्य व्यक्तिराकाश आत्मनः ।। १२-६-४० ।।

This oṁkāra, ultimately nonmaterial and imperceptible, is heard by the Supersoul without His possessing material ears or any other material senses. The entire expanse of Vedic sound is elaborated from oṁkāra, which appears from the soul, within the sky of the heart. ।। 12-6-40 ।।

english translation

यह ओंकार, अंततः अभौतिक और अगोचर, परमात्मा द्वारा अपने भौतिक कानों या किसी अन्य भौतिक इंद्रियों के बिना सुना जाता है। वैदिक ध्वनि का संपूर्ण विस्तार ओंकार से विस्तृत है, जो हृदय के आकाश के भीतर आत्मा से प्रकट होता है। ।। १२-६-४० ।।
