तस्माद्वर्णयितुन्नैव शक्यते हि मया पुनः ।। शरीरं दुःखराशिं च मत्वा त्याज्यन्त्वयाधुना ।। २१ ।।

Hence it is very difficult to explain this misery. The body is a heap of miseries. Considering this, you shall eschew all miseries.

tasmAdvarNayitunnaiva zakyate hi mayA punaH || zarIraM duHkharAziM ca matvA tyAjyantvayAdhunA || 21 ||

येनेदञ्च धृतन्तेन व्याप्तमेव न संशयः ।। प्रथमम्मातृगर्भे वै जन्म दुःखस्य कारणम् ।। २२।।

By this misery alone is the body held and pervaded. There is no doubt in this. At the outset, the very birth in the mother’s womb is a cause of misery.

कौमारेऽपि महादुःखं बाललीलानुसारि यत् ।। ततोपि यौवने कामान्भुन्जानो दुःखरूपिणः ।। २३।।

Even in infancy and childhood there is great misery in child’s sports. In youth man experiences misery even while enjoying pleasures.

kaumAre'pi mahAduHkhaM bAlalIlAnusAri yat || tatopi yauvane kAmAnbhunjAno duHkharUpiNaH || 23||

गतागतैर्दिनानां हि कार्यभारैरनेकशः ।। आयुश्च क्षीयते नित्यं न जानाति ह तत्पुनः ।। २४।।

When days come and go, when burdens of tasks are born in plenty, the life nears its end everyday. But man does not realize it.

gatAgatairdinAnAM hi kAryabhArairanekazaH || Ayuzca kSIyate nityaM na jAnAti ha tatpunaH || 24||

अन्ते च मरणं चैव महादुःखमतः परम् ।। नानानरकपीडाश्च भुज्यंतेज्ञैर्नरैस्सदा ।। २५।।

In the end there is death. There is greater misery thereafter. There are different sorts of hellish trouble. All these are experienced by ignorant men.
