ब्रह्मपुत्रो बभूवातितपस्वी ब्रह्मवित्प्रभुः ।। अनसूयापतिर्धीमान्ब्रह्माज्ञाप्रतिपालकः ।। २ ।।
Atri, son of Brahmā, was a great sage. He was holy and a knower of Brahman. He was the husband of Anasūyā. He was intelligent and he strictly followed the orders of Brahmā.
प्राणानायम्य विधिवन्निर्विन्ध्यातटिनीतटे ।। तपश्चचार सुमहदद्वन्द्वोऽब्दशतम्मुनिः ।। ४ ।।
On the banks of the river Nirvindhyā, the sage who had controlled his breath and had freed himself from mutually clashing emotions performed a great penance for a hundred years.
