नन्दीश्वर उवाच॥ स विप्रो गृहमागत्य महाहर्षसमन्वितः॥ प्रियायै कथयामास तद्वृत्तान्तमशेषतः॥ १ ॥
Nandīśvara said:— With great delight the brahmin returned home and told his beloved wife all those details.
english translation
nandIzvara uvAca॥ sa vipro gRhamAgatya mahAharSasamanvitaH॥ priyAyai kathayAmAsa tadvRttAntamazeSataH॥ 1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतच्छ्रुत्वा विप्रपत्नी सा मुदम्प्राप शुचिष्मती॥ अतीव प्रेमसंयुक्ता प्रशशंस विधिन्निजम् ॥ २॥
On hearing it, Śuciṣmatī, the wife of the brahmin, rejoiced much and being full of love she praised her good fortune.
english translation
tacchrutvA viprapatnI sA mudamprApa zuciSmatI॥ atIva premasaMyuktA prazazaMsa vidhinnijam ॥ 2॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ कालेन तद्योषिदन्तर्वत्नी बभूव ह ॥ विधिवद्विहिते तेन गर्भाधानाख्यकर्मणि ॥ ३॥
She became pregnant in due course. The brahmin performed the rite of impregnation duly.
english translation
atha kAlena tadyoSidantarvatnI babhUva ha ॥ vidhivadvihite tena garbhAdhAnAkhyakarmaNi ॥ 3॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः पुंसवनन्तेन स्यन्दनात्प्राग्विपश्चिता ॥ गृह्योक्तविधिना सम्यक्कृतम्पुंस्त्वविवृद्धये ॥ ४ ॥
Before the stir and throb of the child in the womb was felt, the learned Brahmin performed the holy rite of Puṃsavana in the manner prescribed in the Gṛhyasūtras for the growth of embryo’s manliness.
english translation
tataH puMsavanantena syandanAtprAgvipazcitA ॥ gRhyoktavidhinA samyakkRtampuMstvavivRddhaye ॥ 4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसीमन्तोऽथाष्टमे मासे गर्भरूपसमृद्धिकृत् ॥ सुखप्रसवसिद्धौ च तेनाकारि कृपाविदा ॥ ५ ॥
Then in the eighth month he performed the holy rite of Sīmanta which is conducive to the growth of the embryo and which facilitates easy delivery of the child.

sImanto'thASTame mAse garbharUpasamRddhikRt ॥ sukhaprasavasiddhau ca tenAkAri kRpAvidA ॥ 5 ॥
