    अहिंसा समता तुष्टिस्तपो दानं यशोऽयशः । भवन्ति भावा भूतानां मत्त एव पृथग्विधाः ॥ १०-५॥ahiMsA samatA tuSTistapo dAnaM yazo'yazaH । bhavanti bhAvA bhUtAnAM matta eva pRthagvidhAH ॥ 10-5॥Harmlessness, equanimity, contentment, austerity, beneficence, fame and failure, all these, the characteristics of beings, spring from Me only.

    किं पुनर्ब्राह्मणाः पुण्या भक्ता राजर्षयस्तथा । अनित्यमसुखं लोकमिमं प्राप्य भजस्व माम् ॥ ९-३३॥kiM punarbrAhmaNAH puNyA bhaktA rAjarSayastathA । anityamasukhaM lokamimaM prApya bhajasva mAm ॥ 9-33॥How much more then the Brahmanas and royal sages (Rajarshis are kings who have become saints while discharging the duties of the kingdom) who are pure and are My devotees! Having obtained this transient, joyless world, worship Me.

    अपि चेत्सुदुराचारो भजते मामनन्यभाक् । साधुरेव स मन्तव्यः सम्यग्व्यवसितो हि सः ॥ ९-३०॥api cetsudurAcAro bhajate mAmananyabhAk । sAdhureva sa mantavyaH samyagvyavasito hi saH ॥ 9-30॥If even the most sinful man worships Me with undivided devotion, he must be regarded as holy, for he has rightly resolved.

    अद्वेष्टा सर्वभूतानां मैत्रः करुण एव च । निर्ममो निरहङ्कारः समदुःखसुखः क्षमी ॥ १२-१३॥adveSTA sarvabhUtAnAM maitraH karuNa eva ca । nirmamo nirahaGkAraH samaduHkhasukhaH kSamI ॥ 12-13॥He who hates no creature, who is friendly and compassionate to all, who is free from attachment and egoism, balanced in pleasure and pain, and forgiving.

    यत्करोषि यदश्नासि यज्जुहोषि ददासि यत् । यत्तपस्यसि कौन्तेय तत्कुरुष्व मदर्पणम् ॥ ९-२७॥yatkaroSi yadaznAsi yajjuhoSi dadAsi yat । yattapasyasi kaunteya tatkuruSva madarpaNam ॥ 9-27॥Whatsoever you do, whatsoever you eat, whatsoever you offer, whatsoever you give away (charity), whatsoever austerity you practice, O Arjuna, do that as an offering to Me.

    अहं हि सर्वयज्ञानां भोक्ता च प्रभुरेव च । न तु मामभिजानन्ति तत्त्वेनातश्च्यवन्ति ते ॥ ९-२४॥ahaM hi sarvayajJAnAM bhoktA ca prabhureva ca । na tu mAmabhijAnanti tattvenAtazcyavanti te ॥ 9-24॥(For) I alone am the willing recipient and also the Lord of all sacrifices; but they do not know Me in essence (in reality .tattva-roop), and hence they fall (return to this mortal world).

    श्रेयो हि ज्ञानमभ्यासाज्ज्ञानाद्ध्यानं विशिष्यते । ध्यानात्कर्मफलत्यागस्त्यागाच्छान्तिरनन्तरम् ॥ १२-१२॥zreyo hi jJAnamabhyAsAjjJAnAddhyAnaM viziSyate । dhyAnAtkarmaphalatyAgastyAgAcchAntiranantaram ॥ 12-12॥Knowledge is surely superior to practice; meditation surpasses knowledge. The renunciation of the fruits of actions (excels) meditation. From renunciation, Peace follows immediately.

    ते तं भुक्त्वा स्वर्गलोकं विशालं क्षीणे पुण्ये मर्त्यलोकं विशन्ति । एवं त्रयीधर्ममनुप्रपन्ना गतागतं कामकामा लभन्ते ॥ ९-२१॥te taM bhuktvA svargalokaM vizAlaM kSINe puNye martyalokaM vizanti । evaM trayIdharmamanuprapannA gatAgataM kAmakAmA labhante ॥ 9-21॥After having enjoyed that vast heavenly world, they enter into the human world on the exhaustion of their merit. Thus, those who follow the rites and duties prescribed in the three Vedas, and are desirous of pleasures, attain the state of going and returning.
