    तथा ब्रुवति रामे तु जामदग्न्ये प्रतापवान् । रामो दाशरथिः श्रीमान् चिक्षेप शरमुत्तमम् ॥ १-७६-२१tathA bruvati rAme tu jAmadagnye pratApavAn । rAmo dAzarathiH zrImAn cikSepa zaramuttamam ॥ 1-76-21Thus spoke Parashurama, son of Jamadagni to Rama, the valiant son of Dasharatha who (then) shot off that nonpareil arrow ( from that longbow of Vishnu ). ॥ 1-76-21॥

    शरमप्रतिमं राम मोक्तुमर्हसि सुव्रत । शरमोक्षे गमिष्यामि महेन्द्रं पर्वतोत्तमम् ॥ १-७६-२०zaramapratimaM rAma moktumarhasi suvrata । zaramokSe gamiSyAmi mahendraM parvatottamam ॥ 1-76-20You are faithful to vows, oh ! Rama This arrow has no equal in prowess. It behoves of you to release it ( against me ). After its release I shall go to the excellent Mahendra mountain.' ॥ 1-76-20॥

    न चेयं तव काकुत्स्थ व्रीडा भवितुमर्हति । त्वया त्रैलोक्यनाथेन यदहं विमुखीकृतः ॥ १-७६-१९na ceyaM tava kAkutstha vrIDA bhavitumarhati । tvayA trailokyanAthena yadahaM vimukhIkRtaH ॥ 1-76-19I have been defeated by you, Oh ! Descendant of Kakustha, lord of the three worlds. Therefore, it is not right for me to feel ashamed. ॥ 1-76-19॥

    एते सुरगणाः सर्वे निरीक्षन्ते समागताः । त्वामप्रतिमकर्माणमप्रतिद्वन्द्वमाहवे ॥ १-७६-१८ete suragaNAH sarve nirIkSante samAgatAH । tvAmapratimakarmANamapratidvandvamAhave ॥ 1-76-18All your deeds are incomparable. You are unassailable in combat. All these hosts of gods have assembled here and are looking at you. ॥ 1-76-18॥

Imperishable one Oh ! Tormentor of enemies, Fare well. ॥ 1-76-17॥

    लोकास्त्वप्रतिमा राम निर्जितास्तपसा मया । जहि तान् शरमुख्येन मा भूत् कालस्य पर्ययः ॥ १-७६-१६lokAstvapratimA rAma nirjitAstapasA mayA । jahi tAn zaramukhyena mA bhUt kAlasya paryayaH ॥ 1-76-16But, oh ! Rama, strike with the, principal ( irreversible ) arrow the unrivalled worlds conquered by my asceticism. Do not delay. ॥ 1-76-16॥

    तमिमां मद्गतिं वीर हन्तुं नार्हसि राघव । मनोजवं गमिष्यामि महेन्द्रं पर्वतोत्तमम् ॥ १-७६-१५tamimAM madgatiM vIra hantuM nArhasi rAghava । manojavaM gamiSyAmi mahendraM parvatottamam ॥ 1-76-15For this, you should not destroy my mobility, Oh ! valiant Raaghava ( son of the Raghus ). I shall go to Mahendra, the best of mountains, with the speed of mind. ॥ 1-76-15॥

    सोऽहं गुरुवचः कुर्वन् पृथिव्यां न वसे निशाम् । तदा प्रभृति काकुत्स्थ कृता मे काश्यपस्य ह ॥ १-७६-१४so'haM guruvacaH kurvan pRthivyAM na vase nizAm । tadA prabhRti kAkutstha kRtA me kAzyapasya ha ॥ 1-76-14Oh ! Descendant of Kakustha, having gifted this earth to Kashyapa, I promised him that I would not live here, during night time. For the earth belongs to him. ॥ 1-76-14॥

    काश्यपाय मया दत्ता यदा पूर्वं वसुंधरा । विषये मे न वस्तव्यमिति मां काश्यपोऽब्रवीत् ॥ १-७६-१३kAzyapAya mayA dattA yadA pUrvaM vasuMdharA । viSaye me na vastavyamiti mAM kAzyapo'bravIt ॥ 1-76-13- 'Once, when I donated entire earth to Sage Kashyapa, Kashyapa told me 'uninhabitable is my domain, viz., this earth for you .' thus . ॥ 1-76-13॥
