- siva.sh/mahabharat/adi-parva/71/39[षुक्र] असंशयं माम असुरा दविषन्ति; ये मे शिष्यं नागसं सूदयन्ति अब्राह्मणं कर्तुम इच्छन्ति रौद्रास; ते मां यथा परस्तुतं दानवैर हि अप्य अस्य पापस्य भवेद इहान्तः; कं बरह्महत्या न दहेद अपीन्द्रम ॥ १-७१-३९ ॥[Sukra] asaMzayaM mAma asurA daviSanti; ye me ziSyaM nAgasaM sUdayanti abrAhmaNaM kartuma icchanti raudrAsa; te mAM yathA parastutaM dAnavaira hi apya asya pApasya bhaveda ihAntaH; kaM barahmahatyA na daheda apIndrama ॥ 1-71-39 ॥'Vaisampayana continued, "Then, the great sage Kavya, deeply troubled by Devayani's words, exclaimed in anger, 'Indeed, the Asuras intend to harm me, as they kill my disciple who resides with me. These devotees of Rudra aim to strip me of my Brahminhood by implicating me in their heinous act. Surely, such a crime leads to a dreadful conclusion. The sin of killing a Brahmin could even scorch Indra himself."' ॥ 1-71-39 ॥

Right before you, O snake, I shall bring it back to life.' ॥ 1-39-8 ॥

Out of anxiety she would sometimes walk out toward the street, and sometimes she went back into her house. In this way, the midnight hour gradually arrived. ॥ 11-8-26 ॥

Her only means of sustenance was prostitution, and therefore she anxiously thought, “Maybe this one who is coming now is very rich… Oh, he is not stopping, but I am sure someone else will come. Surely this man who is coming now will want to pay me for my love, and he will probably give lots of money. ॥ 11-8-25 ॥

My dear devotee, you are sinless, but in Kali-yuga the people will be addicted to all types of sinful activities; therefore do not stay here. ॥ 11-7-5 ॥
