    वाच्येके जुह्वति प्राणं प्राणे वाचं च सर्वदा । वाचि प्राणे च पश्यन्तो यज्ञनिर्वृत्तिमक्षयाम् ॥ २३ ॥vAcyeke juhvati prANaM prANe vAcaM ca sarvadA । vAci prANe ca pazyanto yajJanirvRttimakSayAm ॥ 23 ॥Knowing that the (performance of the) sacrifice in their speech and their breath yields imperishable (rewards), some always offer their breath in their speech, and their speech in their breath.

Indeed, they consider endeavor for such perfection useless, since the soul, like a tree, is permanent, but the body, like a tree’s fruit, is subject to destruction. ॥ 11-28-42 ॥

Then one should perform a second cleansing by smearing the body with earth and chanting both Vedic and tantric mantras. ॥ 11-27-10 ॥

    आसपिण्डक्रियाकर्म द्विजातेः संस्थितस्य तु । अदैवं भोजयेत्श्राद्धं पिण्डमेकं च निर्वपेत् ॥ २४७ ॥AsapiNDakriyAkarma dvijAteH saMsthitasya tu । adaivaM bhojayetzrAddhaM piNDamekaM ca nirvapet ॥ 247 ॥But before the performance of the Sapindikarana, one must feed at the funeral sacrifice in honour of a (recently-) deceased Aryan (one Brahmana) without (making an offering) to the gods, and give one cake only.
