    दश सूणासहस्राणि यो वाहयति सौनिकः । तेन तुल्यः स्मृतो राजा घोरस्तस्य प्रतिग्रहः ॥ ८६ ॥daza sUNAsahasrANi yo vAhayati saunikaH । tena tulyaH smRto rAjA ghorastasya pratigrahaH ॥ 86 ॥A king is declared to be equal (in wickedness) to a butcher who keeps a hundred thousand slaughter-houses; to accept presents from him is a terrible (crime).

And Maya, in gratitude, built (for the Pandavas) a celestial palace decked with every sort of jewels and precious stones.' ॥ 1-55-38 ॥

In this he first hears the sound of crickets and then the sound of flute.

    अपि नः स कुले भूयाद् यो नो दद्यात् त्रयोदशीम् । पायसं मधुसर्पिर्भ्यां प्राक् छाये कुञ्जरस्य च ॥ २७४ ॥api naH sa kule bhUyAd yo no dadyAt trayodazIm । pAyasaM madhusarpirbhyAM prAk chAye kuJjarasya ca ॥ 274 ॥’May such a man (the manes say) be born in our family who will give us milk-rice, with honey and clarified butter, on the thirteenth lunar day (of the month of Bhadrapada) and (in the afternoon) when the shadow of an elephant falls towards the east.’
