Her blood slightly dried up, she came back afflicted to Khara and fell down again like a sallaki ( a creeper ), its sap oozing. ॥ 3-20-23॥

Seeing them ( the demons ) fallen on the ground, the demoness wild with anger . - ॥ 3-20-22॥

    विनिष्पेतुः तदा भूमौ वल्मीकात् इव पन्नगाः । ते भिन्नहृदया भूमौ छिन्नमूला इव द्रुमाः ॥ ३-२०-२१viniSpetuH tadA bhUmau valmIkAt iva pannagAH । te bhinnahRdayA bhUmau chinnamUlA iva drumAH ॥ 3-20-21- they (the arrows) thundered (out of their chests) and plunged into the earth like snakes into snake pit. Like trees cut at the roots they ( the demons ) fell down on earth with their hearts split . - ॥ 3-20-21॥

    मुमोच राघवो बाणान् वज्रान् इव शतक्रतुः । रुक्मपुङ्खाश्च विशिखा दीप्ता हेमविभूषिताः । ते भित्त्वा रक्षसाम् वेगात् वक्षांसि रुधिर आप्लुताः ॥ ३-२०-२०mumoca rAghavo bANAn vajrAn iva zatakratuH । rukmapuGkhAzca vizikhA dIptA hemavibhUSitAH । te bhittvA rakSasAm vegAt vakSAMsi rudhira AplutAH ॥ 3-20-20- Raghava sent the arrows as Indra would release the thunderbolt. Goldfeathered blazing arrows decorated with gold, released by Rama flew fast and pierced the chests of the demons. Drenched in blood . - ॥ 3-20-20॥

    जग्राह परम क्रुद्धः चतुर्दश शिल अशितान् । गृहीत्वा धनुः आयम्य लक्ष्यान् उद्दिश्य राक्षसान् ॥ ३-२०-१९jagrAha parama kruddhaH caturdaza zila azitAn । gRhItvA dhanuH Ayamya lakSyAn uddizya rAkSasAn ॥ 3-20-19- ( fourteen in numbers ) and sharpened by stones were taken in high wrath. On taking up the bow, stretched it and aimed at his target, the demons - ॥ 3-20-19॥

    तावद्भिः एव चिच्छ्हेद शरैः कांचन भूषितैः । ततः पश्चात् महातेजा नाराचान् सूर्य संनिभान् ॥ ३-२०-१८tAvadbhiH eva cicchheda zaraiH kAMcana bhUSitaiH । tataH pazcAt mahAtejA nArAcAn sUrya saMnibhAn ॥ 3-20-18- shredded only with as many arrows that are adorned in gold. Then by the effulgent Rama, fourteen arrows glowing like the Sun . - ॥ 3-20-18॥

    चिक्षिपुः तानि शूलानि राघवम् प्रति दुर्जयम् । तानि शूलानि काकुत्स्थः समस्तानि चतुर्दश ॥ ३-२०-१७cikSipuH tAni zUlAni rAghavam prati durjayam । tAni zUlAni kAkutsthaH samastAni caturdaza ॥ 3-20-17- and they hurled lances towards that unconquerable Raghava. Rama in turn, to all of those fourteen lances . - ॥ 3-20-17॥
