The mental concoction of the auspicious and inauspicious does not exist in you. ॥ 4-22-14 ॥

Could such persons, whose only aim is sense gratification, be blessed with any good fortune? ॥ 4-22-13 ॥

He welcomed them, saying: From the beginning of your birth you strictly observed the vows of celibacy, and although you are experienced in the path of liberation, you are keeping yourselves just like small children. ॥ 4-22-12 ॥

    व्यालालयद्रुमा वै तेऽप्यरिक्ताखिलसम्पदः । यद्गृहास्तीर्थपादीयपादतीर्थविवर्जिताः ॥ ४-२२-११ ॥vyAlAlayadrumA vai te'pyariktAkhilasampadaH । yadgRhAstIrthapAdIyapAdatIrthavivarjitAH ॥ 4-22-11 ॥On the contrary, even though full of all opulence and material prosperity, any householder’s house where the devotees of the Lord are never allowed to come in, and where there is no water for washing their feet, is to be considered a tree in which all venomous serpents live. ॥ 4-22-11 ॥

    अधना अपि ते धन्याः साधवो गृहमेधिनः । यद्गृहा ह्यर्हवर्याम्बुतृणभूमीश्वरावराः ॥ ४-२२-१० ॥adhanA api te dhanyAH sAdhavo gRhamedhinaH । yadgRhA hyarhavaryAmbutRNabhUmIzvarAvarAH ॥ 4-22-10 ॥A person who is not very rich and is attached to family life becomes highly glorified when saintly persons are present in his home. The master and servants who are engaged in offering the exalted visitors water, a sitting place and paraphernalia for reception are glorified, and the home itself is also glorified. ॥ 4-22-10 ॥

    नैव लक्षयते लोको लोकान् पर्यटतोऽपि यान् । यथा सर्वदृशं सर्व आत्मानं येऽस्य हेतवः ॥ ४-२२-९ ॥naiva lakSayate loko lokAn paryaTato'pi yAn । yathA sarvadRzaM sarva AtmAnaM ye'sya hetavaH ॥ 4-22-9 ॥Pṛthu Mahārāja continued: Although you are traveling in all planetary systems, people cannot know you, just as they cannot know the Supersoul, although He is within everyone’s heart as the witness of everything. Even Lord Brahmā and Lord Śiva cannot understand the Supersoul. ॥ 4-22-9 ॥

    पतितः स्खलितो भग्नः सन्दष्टस्तप्त आहतः । हरिरित्यवशेनाह पुमान् नार्हति यातनाम् ॥ ६-२-१५ ॥patitaH skhalito bhagnaH sandaSTastapta AhataH । harirityavazenAha pumAn nArhati yAtanAm ॥ 6-2-15 ॥If one chants the holy name of Hari and then dies because of an accidental misfortune, such as falling from the top of a house, slipping and suffering broken bones while traveling on the road, being bitten by a serpent, being afflicted with pain and high fever, or being injured by a weapon, one is immediately absolved from having to enter hellish life, even though he is sinful. ॥ 6-2-15 ॥

    स्तेनः सुरापो मित्रध्रुग् ब्रह्महा गुरुतल्पगः । स्त्रीराजपितृगोहन्ता ये च पातकिनोऽपरे ॥ ६-२-९ ॥stenaH surApo mitradhrug brahmahA gurutalpagaH । strIrAjapitRgohantA ye ca pAtakino'pare ॥ 6-2-9 ॥The chanting of the holy name of Lord Viṣṇu is the best process of atonement for a thief of gold or other valuables, for a drunkard, for one who betrays a friend or relative, for one who kills a brāhmaṇa, or for one who indulges in sex with the wife of his guru or another superior. It is also the best method of atonement for one who murders women, the king or his father, for one who slaughters cows, and for all other sinful men. ॥ 6-2-9 ॥

    एतेनैव ह्यघोनोऽस्य कृतं स्यादघनिष्कृतम् । यदा नारायणायेति जगाद चतुरक्षरम् ॥ ६-२-८ ॥etenaiva hyaghono'sya kRtaM syAdaghaniSkRtam । yadA nArAyaNAyeti jagAda caturakSaram ॥ 6-2-8 ॥The Viṣṇudūtas continued: Even previously, while eating and at other times, this Ajāmila would call his son, saying, “My dear Nārāyaṇa, please come here.” Although calling the name of his son, he nevertheless uttered the four syllables nā-rā-ya-ṇa. Simply by chanting the name of Nārāyaṇa in this way, he sufficiently atoned for the sinful reactions of millions of lives. ॥ 6-2-8 ॥

    अयं हि कृतनिर्वेशो जन्मकोट्यंहसामपि । यद्व्याजहार विवशो नाम स्वस्त्ययनं हरेः ॥ ६-२-७ ॥ayaM hi kRtanirvezo janmakoTyaMhasAmapi । yadvyAjahAra vivazo nAma svastyayanaM hareH ॥ 6-2-7 ॥Ajāmila has already atoned for all his sinful actions. Indeed, he has atoned not only for sins performed in one life but for those performed in millions of lives, for in a helpless condition he chanted the holy name of Nārāyaṇa. Even though he did not chant purely, he chanted without offense, and therefore he is now pure and eligible for liberation. ॥ 6-2-7 ॥
