    अन्वास्य पश्चिमां संध्याम् तत्र वासमकल्पयत् । सुतीक्ष्णस्याऽश्रमे रम्ये सीतया लक्ष्मणेन च ॥ ३-७-२३anvAsya pazcimAM saMdhyAm tatra vAsamakalpayat । sutIkSNasyA'zrame ramye sItayA lakSmaNena ca ॥ 3-7-23 On worshipping the westward vesperal time, Rama arranged a stay for himself along with Sita and Lakshmana in the delightful hermitage of Sutikshna. ॥ 3-7-23॥

    एतस्मिन्नाश्रमे वासं चिरं तु न समर्थये ॥ तमेवमुक्त्वोपरमं रामस्सन्ध्यामुपागमत् ॥ ३-७-२२etasminnAzrame vAsaM ciraM tu na samarthaye ॥ tamevamuktvoparamaM rAmassandhyAmupAgamat ॥ 3-7-22I (therefore) do not foresee our long stay in this hermitage.' On saying thus to the sage then Rama came by the twilight, and he paused at it. ॥ 3-7-22॥

    हन्यां निशितधारेण शरेणाशनिवर्चसा । भवांस्तत्राभिषज्येत किंस्यात्कृच्छ्रतरं ततः ॥ ३-७-२१hanyAM nizitadhAreNa zareNAzanivarcasA । bhavAMstatrAbhiSajyeta kiMsyAtkRcchrataraM tataH ॥ 3-7-21- I will kill with a sharpedged arrow, glowing like a thunderbolt. What can be more agonizing for you (than my killing animals)? ॥ 3-7-21॥

    उवाच वचनं धीरो विकृष्य सशरं धनुः । तानहं सुमहाभाग मृगसङ्घान्समागतान् ॥ ३-७-२०uvAca vacanaM dhIro vikRSya sazaraM dhanuH । tAnahaM sumahAbhAga mRgasaGghAnsamAgatAn ॥ 3-7-20- heroic Rama lifted his bow with an arrow and said these words 'Oh ! reverend one, all those herds of animals who keep coming here - ॥ 3-7-20॥

    नान्यद्धोषं भवेदत्र मृगेभ्योऽन्यत्र विद्धि वै । तच्छृत्वा वचनं तस्य महर्षेर्लक्ष्मणाग्रजः ॥ ३-७-१९nAnyaddhoSaM bhavedatra mRgebhyo'nyatra viddhi vai । tacchRtvA vacanaM tasya maharSerlakSmaNAgrajaH ॥ 3-7-19Having heard that there was no other problem from the wild animals except their frequent incursions - ॥ 3-7-19॥

    इममाश्रममागम्य मृगसङ्घा महायशः । अहत्वा प्रतिगच्छन्ति लोभयित्वाऽकुतोभयाः ॥ ३-७-१८imamAzramamAgamya mRgasaGghA mahAyazaH । ahatvA pratigacchanti lobhayitvA'kutobhayAH ॥ 3-7-18Oh ! illustrious Rama, herds of animals visit this place fearlessly, enticing the inmates and (then) go back without harming any one.' ॥ 3-7-18॥

    अयमेवाश्रमो राम गुणवान्रम्यतामिह । ऋषिसङ्घानुचरितः सदा मूलफलैर्युतः ॥ ३-७-१७ayamevAzramo rAma guNavAnramyatAmiha । RSisaGghAnucaritaH sadA mUlaphalairyutaH ॥ 3-7-17- 'Oh ! Rama this is a salubrious hermitage where hosts of sages live and which is full of roots and fruits, you may enjoy yourself here. ॥ 3-7-17॥

    एवमुक्तस्तु रामेण महर्षिर्लोकविश्रुतः । अब्रवीन्मधुरं वाक्यं हर्षेण महताऽप्लुतः ॥ ३-७-१६evamuktastu rAmeNa maharSirlokavizrutaH । abravInmadhuraM vAkyaM harSeNa mahatA'plutaH ॥ 3-7-16Thus addressed by Rama, Sutikshna, the great sage, wellknown to the world was highly delighted. He (then) said these sweet words ॥ 3-7-16॥
