क॒था म॒हे रु॒द्रिया॑य ब्रवाम॒ कद्रा॒ये चि॑कि॒तुषे॒ भगा॑य । आप॒ ओष॑धीरु॒त नो॑ऽवन्तु॒ द्यौर्वना॑ गि॒रयो॑ वृ॒क्षके॑शाः ॥ कथा महे रुद्रियाय ब्रवाम कद्राये चिकितुषे भगाय । आप ओषधीरुत नोऽवन्तु द्यौर्वना गिरयो वृक्षकेशाः ॥
How can we offer (fit praise) to the mighty posterity of Rudra, or to the all-knowing Bhaga, for (the sake of obtaining) riches; may the waters, may the plural nts, protect us, and the heaven, the woods, and the mountains, whose tresses are trees.
english translation
शृ॒णोतु॑ न ऊ॒र्जां पति॒र्गिर॒: स नभ॒स्तरी॑याँ इषि॒रः परि॑ज्मा । शृ॒ण्वन्त्वाप॒: पुरो॒ न शु॒भ्राः परि॒ स्रुचो॑ बबृहा॒णस्याद्रे॑: ॥ शृणोतु न ऊर्जां पतिर्गिरः स नभस्तरीयाँ इषिरः परिज्मा । शृण्वन्त्वापः पुरो न शुभ्राः परि स्रुचो बबृहाणस्याद्रेः ॥
May the lord of vigour, (Vāyu), hear our prayers, he who traverses the firmament, the circumambient; may the waters hear, bright as cities, flowing round the towering mountains.
english translation
वि॒दा चि॒न्नु म॑हान्तो॒ ये व॒ एवा॒ ब्रवा॑म दस्मा॒ वार्यं॒ दधा॑नाः । वय॑श्च॒न सु॒भ्व१॒॑ आव॑ यन्ति क्षु॒भा मर्त॒मनु॑यतं वध॒स्नैः ॥ विदा चिन्नु महान्तो ये व एवा ब्रवाम दस्मा वार्यं दधानाः । वयश्चन सुभ्व आव यन्ति क्षुभा मर्तमनुयतं वधस्नैः ॥
Mighty Maruts, of goodly aspect, quickly hear (the praises) that we who repair to you repeat, offering acceptable (oblations); (the Maruts) coming hither, well disposed, come down to us, (destroying) with their weapons the mortals opposed to them, (overcome) by agitation.
english translation
आ दैव्या॑नि॒ पार्थि॑वानि॒ जन्मा॒पश्चाच्छा॒ सुम॑खाय वोचम् । वर्ध॑न्तां॒ द्यावो॒ गिर॑श्च॒न्द्राग्रा॑ उ॒दा व॑र्धन्ताम॒भिषा॑ता॒ अर्णा॑: ॥ आ दैव्यानि पार्थिवानि जन्मापश्चाच्छा सुमखाय वोचम् । वर्धन्तां द्यावो गिरश्चन्द्राग्रा उदा वर्धन्तामभिषाता अर्णाः ॥
I offer adoration to the company of the Maruts deserving of sacred sacrifice, to obtain the waters, whether born of heaven or earth; may my praises prosper; may the joy-bestowing heavens (flourish); may the rivers cherished (by the Maruts) be filled with water.
english translation
प॒देप॑दे मे जरि॒मा नि धा॑यि॒ वरू॑त्री वा श॒क्रा या पा॒युभि॑श्च । सिष॑क्तु मा॒ता म॒ही र॒सा न॒: स्मत्सू॒रिभि॑ॠजु॒हस्त॑ ऋजु॒वनि॑: ॥ पदेपदे मे जरिमा नि धायि वरूत्री वा शक्रा या पायुभिश्च । सिषक्तु माता मही रसा नः स्मत्सूरिभिॠजुहस्त ऋजुवनिः ॥
My praise has been continually proffered as a protectress, powerful with (the means of) preservation; may the maternal and venerable earth accept our (praises), and, (plural ased) with her pious (worshippers) be (to us) straight-handed, and the giver of good.
