या सु॑जू॒र्णिः श्रेणि॑: सु॒म्नआ॑पिर्ह्र॒देच॑क्षु॒र्न ग्र॒न्थिनी॑ चर॒ण्युः । ता अ॒ञ्जयो॑ऽरु॒णयो॒ न स॑स्रुः श्रि॒ये गावो॒ न धे॒नवो॑ऽनवन्त ॥ या सुजूर्णिः श्रेणिः सुम्नआपिर्ह्रदेचक्षुर्न ग्रन्थिनी चरण्युः । ता अञ्जयोऽरुणयो न सस्रुः श्रिये गावो न धेनवोऽनवन्त ॥
(Purūravā). Sujūraṇi, Śreṇi, Sumna-āpi, Hradecakṣus, Granthinī, and the swift-moving(Ūrvaśi who arrived) they, decorated and purple-tinted, did not go first, they lowed like kine for protection.

सम॑स्मि॒ञ्जाय॑मान आसत॒ ग्ना उ॒तेम॑वर्धन्न॒द्य१॒॑: स्वगू॑र्ताः । म॒हे यत्त्वा॑ पुरूरवो॒ रणा॒याव॑र्धयन्दस्यु॒हत्या॑य दे॒वाः ॥ समस्मिञ्जायमान आसत ग्ना उतेमवर्धन्नद्यः स्वगूर्ताः । महे यत्त्वा पुरूरवो रणायावर्धयन्दस्युहत्याय देवाः ॥
(Ūrvaśī). As soon as he was born the wives (of the gods) surrounded him, the spontaneouslyflowing rivers nourished him, for the gods reared you, Purūravā, for a mighty conflict, for the slaughter of the Dasyus. (Nirukta, 3.47).

सचा॒ यदा॑सु॒ जह॑ती॒ष्वत्क॒ममा॑नुषीषु॒ मानु॑षो नि॒षेवे॑ । अप॑ स्म॒ मत्त॒रस॑न्ती॒ न भु॒ज्युस्ता अ॑त्रसन्रथ॒स्पृशो॒ नाश्वा॑: ॥ सचा यदासु जहतीष्वत्कममानुषीषु मानुषो निषेवे । अप स्म मत्तरसन्ती न भुज्युस्ता अत्रसन्रथस्पृशो नाश्वाः ॥
(Purūravā). When, becoming their companion, (Purūravā) the mortal associated with theseimmortal (nymphs) who had abandoned their bodies, they fled from me like a timid doe, like horses harnessed to a chariot.
english translation
यदा॑सु॒ मर्तो॑ अ॒मृता॑सु नि॒स्पृक्सं क्षो॒णीभि॒: क्रतु॑भि॒र्न पृ॒ङ्क्ते । ता आ॒तयो॒ न त॒न्व॑: शुम्भत॒ स्वा अश्वा॑सो॒ न क्री॒ळयो॒ दन्द॑शानाः ॥ यदासु मर्तो अमृतासु निस्पृक्सं क्षोणीभिः क्रतुभिर्न पृङ्क्ते । ता आतयो न तन्वः शुम्भत स्वा अश्वासो न क्रीळयो दन्दशानाः ॥
When a mortal mixing with these immortal nymphs has conversed with them with words and actions,they (becoming) ducks do not show their bodies, like playful horses champing (the bit).
english translation
वि॒द्युन्न या पत॑न्ती॒ दवि॑द्यो॒द्भर॑न्ती मे॒ अप्या॒ काम्या॑नि । जनि॑ष्टो अ॒पो नर्य॒: सुजा॑त॒: प्रोर्वशी॑ तिरत दी॒र्घमायु॑: ॥ विद्युन्न या पतन्ती दविद्योद्भरन्ती मे अप्या काम्यानि । जनिष्टो अपो नर्यः सुजातः प्रोर्वशी तिरत दीर्घमायुः ॥
(Ūrvaśī) who shone like flashing lightning, bringing me the desirable dews (of heaven, hasappeared); a son able in act and friendly to man has been born; Ūrvaśī has prolonged my lengthened existence.
