वने॒ न वा॒ यो न्य॑धायि चा॒कञ्छुचि॑र्वां॒ स्तोमो॑ भुरणावजीगः । यस्येदिन्द्र॑: पुरु॒दिने॑षु॒ होता॑ नृ॒णां नर्यो॒ नृत॑मः क्ष॒पावा॑न् ॥ वने न वा यो न्यधायि चाकञ्छुचिर्वां स्तोमो भुरणावजीगः । यस्येदिन्द्रः पुरुदिनेषु होता नृणां नर्यो नृतमः क्षपावान् ॥

sanskrit

As (the bird) who deposits its young (in its nest) in the tree (is) eagerly looking around, so you bearers(Aśvins) your pure praise (ever) keeps you awake; (that praise) of which Indra has for many days been theinvoker, (Indra) the friend of man, the manliest of men, (to whom the Soma) is offered at night.

english translation

vane॒ na vA॒ yo nya॑dhAyi cA॒kaJchuci॑rvAM॒ stomo॑ bhuraNAvajIgaH | yasyedindra॑: puru॒dine॑Su॒ hotA॑ nR॒NAM naryo॒ nRta॑maH kSa॒pAvA॑n || vane na vA yo nyadhAyi cAkaJchucirvAM stomo bhuraNAvajIgaH | yasyedindraH purudineSu hotA nRNAM naryo nRtamaH kSapAvAn ||

प्र ते॑ अ॒स्या उ॒षस॒: प्राप॑रस्या नृ॒तौ स्या॑म॒ नृत॑मस्य नृ॒णाम् । अनु॑ त्रि॒शोक॑: श॒तमाव॑ह॒न्नॄन्कुत्से॑न॒ रथो॒ यो अस॑त्सस॒वान् ॥ प्र ते अस्या उषसः प्रापरस्या नृतौ स्याम नृतमस्य नृणाम् । अनु त्रिशोकः शतमावहन्नॄन्कुत्सेन रथो यो असत्ससवान् ॥

May we be prosperous at the coming of the present or of any future dawn, (through the adoration) ofyou, the chief leader of men; through your favour Triśoka obtained a hundred followers; the chariot which wascommon to him and you was acquired by Kutsa.

english translation

pra te॑ a॒syA u॒Sasa॒: prApa॑rasyA nR॒tau syA॑ma॒ nRta॑masya nR॒NAm | anu॑ tri॒zoka॑: za॒tamAva॑ha॒nnRRnkutse॑na॒ ratho॒ yo asa॑tsasa॒vAn || pra te asyA uSasaH prAparasyA nRtau syAma nRtamasya nRNAm | anu trizokaH zatamAvahannRRnkutsena ratho yo asatsasavAn ||

कस्ते॒ मद॑ इन्द्र॒ रन्त्यो॑ भू॒द्दुरो॒ गिरो॑ अ॒भ्यु१॒॑ग्रो वि धा॑व । कद्वाहो॑ अ॒र्वागुप॑ मा मनी॒षा आ त्वा॑ शक्यामुप॒मं राधो॒ अन्नै॑: ॥ कस्ते मद इन्द्र रन्त्यो भूद्दुरो गिरो अभ्युग्रो वि धाव । कद्वाहो अर्वागुप मा मनीषा आ त्वा शक्यामुपमं राधो अन्नैः ॥

What sort of exhilaration, Indra, is agreeable to you? You who are powerful hasten to the doors (of thesacrificial chamber) to our praises; when will the Soma be present? (When will) intelligence (come) to me? When,having propitiated you, may I acquire wealth and food?

english translation

kaste॒ mada॑ indra॒ rantyo॑ bhU॒dduro॒ giro॑ a॒bhyu1॒॑gro vi dhA॑va | kadvAho॑ a॒rvAgupa॑ mA manI॒SA A tvA॑ zakyAmupa॒maM rAdho॒ annai॑: || kaste mada indra rantyo bhUdduro giro abhyugro vi dhAva | kadvAho arvAgupa mA manISA A tvA zakyAmupamaM rAdho annaiH ||

कदु॑ द्यु॒म्नमि॑न्द्र॒ त्वाव॑तो॒ नॄन्कया॑ धि॒या क॑रस॒य कन्न॒ आग॑न् । मि॒त्रो न स॒त्य उ॑रुगाय भृ॒त्या अन्ने॑ समस्य॒ यदस॑न्मनी॒षाः ॥ कदु द्युम्नमिन्द्र त्वावतो नॄन्कया धिया करसे कन्न आगन् । मित्रो न सत्य उरुगाय भृत्या अन्ने समस्य यदसन्मनीषाः ॥

When, Indra, (having partaken of) our oblation, and by what sacred rite, will you render menresembling you? When will you bring them to us? You, who are widely renowned, are to us like a true friend,(attentive) for our support, when the minds of all were (anxious) for food.

english translation

kadu॑ dyu॒mnami॑ndra॒ tvAva॑to॒ nRRnkayA॑ dhi॒yA ka॑rasa॒ya kanna॒ Aga॑n | mi॒tro na sa॒tya u॑rugAya bhR॒tyA anne॑ samasya॒ yadasa॑nmanI॒SAH || kadu dyumnamindra tvAvato nRRnkayA dhiyA karase kanna Agan | mitro na satya urugAya bhRtyA anne samasya yadasanmanISAH ||

प्रेर॑य॒ सूरो॒ अर्थं॒ न पा॒रं ये अ॑स्य॒ कामं॑ जनि॒धा इ॑व॒ ग्मन् । गिर॑श्च॒ ये ते॑ तुविजात पू॒र्वीर्नर॑ इन्द्र प्रति॒शिक्ष॒न्त्यन्नै॑: ॥ प्रेरय सूरो अर्थं न पारं ये अस्य कामं जनिधा इव ग्मन् । गिरश्च ये ते तुविजात पूर्वीर्नर इन्द्र प्रतिशिक्षन्त्यन्नैः ॥

As the sun (brings) the ascetic, do you bring to the end (of existence) (your worshippers), who satisfyyour desire (fo the Soma), as husbands (the desire of their wives); and who (being) leaders of rites, multiformIndra, offer to you ancient praises with (sacrificial) viands.

english translation
