वह्निं॑ य॒शसं॑ वि॒दथ॑स्य के॒तुं सु॑प्रा॒व्यं॑ दू॒तं स॒द्योअ॑र्थम् । द्वि॒जन्मा॑नं र॒यिमि॑व प्रश॒स्तं रा॒तिं भ॑र॒द्भृग॑वे मात॒रिश्वा॑ ॥ वह्निं यशसं विदथस्य केतुं सुप्राव्यं दूतं सद्योअर्थम् । द्विजन्मानं रयिमिव प्रशस्तं रातिं भरद्भृगवे मातरिश्वा ॥

Mātariśvan brought, as a friend, to Bhṛgu, the celebrated Vahni, the illuminato of sacrifices, the careful protector (of his votaries), the swift-moving messenger (of the gods), the offspring of two parents, (to be to him) as it were a precious treasure.

vahniM॑ ya॒zasaM॑ vi॒datha॑sya ke॒tuM su॑prA॒vyaM॑ dU॒taM sa॒dyoa॑rtham | dvi॒janmA॑naM ra॒yimi॑va praza॒staM rA॒tiM bha॑ra॒dbhRga॑ve mAta॒rizvA॑ || vahniM yazasaM vidathasya ketuM suprAvyaM dUtaM sadyoartham | dvijanmAnaM rayimiva prazastaM rAtiM bharadbhRgave mAtarizvA ||

अ॒स्य शासु॑रु॒भया॑सः सचन्ते ह॒विष्म॑न्त उ॒शिजो॒ ये च॒ मर्ता॑: । दि॒वश्चि॒त्पूर्वो॒ न्य॑सादि॒ होता॒पृच्छ्यो॑ वि॒श्पति॑र्वि॒क्षु वे॒धाः ॥ अस्य शासुरुभयासः सचन्ते हविष्मन्त उशिजो ये च मर्ताः । दिवश्चित्पूर्वो न्यसादि होतापृच्छ्यो विश्पतिर्विक्षु वेधाः ॥

Both (gods and men) are the worshippers of this ruler; those who are to be desired (of the gods), and those who are mortal, beaing oblations; for this venerable invoker (of the gods), the lord of men, and distributor (of desired benefits), was plural ced by the officiating priests (upon the altar), before the sun was in the sky.

तं नव्य॑सी हृ॒द आ जाय॑मानम॒स्मत्सु॑की॒र्तिर्मधु॑जिह्वमश्याः । यमृ॒त्विजो॑ वृ॒जने॒ मानु॑षास॒: प्रय॑स्वन्त आ॒यवो॒ जीज॑नन्त ॥ तं नव्यसी हृद आ जायमानमस्मत्सुकीर्तिर्मधुजिह्वमश्याः । यमृत्विजो वृजने मानुषासः प्रयस्वन्त आयवो जीजनन्त ॥

May our newest celebration come before that Agni, who is sweet-tongued, and is to be engendered in the heart; whom men, the descendants of Manu, sacrificing and presenting oblations to him, beget in the time and battle.

उ॒शिक्पा॑व॒को वसु॒र्मानु॑षेषु॒ वरे॑ण्यो॒ होता॑धायि वि॒क्षु । दमू॑ना गृ॒हप॑ति॒र्दम॒ आँ अ॒ग्निर्भु॑वद्रयि॒पती॑ रयी॒णाम् ॥ उशिक्पावको वसुर्मानुषेषु वरेण्यो होताधायि विक्षु । दमूना गृहपतिर्दम आँ अग्निर्भुवद्रयिपती रयीणाम् ॥

Agni, the desirable, the purifying, the giver of dwellings, the excellent, the invoker (of the gods) has been plural ced (upon the altar) among men; may he be inimical (to our foes), the protector of (our) dwellings and the guardian of the treasures in (this) mansion.

तं त्वा॑ व॒यं पति॑मग्ने रयी॒णां प्र शं॑सामो म॒तिभि॒र्गोत॑मासः । आ॒शुं न वा॑जम्भ॒रं म॒र्जय॑न्तः प्रा॒तर्म॒क्षू धि॒याव॑सुर्जगम्यात् ॥ तं त्वा वयं पतिमग्ने रयीणां प्र शंसामो मतिभिर्गोतमासः । आशुं न वाजम्भरं मर्जयन्तः प्रातर्मक्षू धियावसुर्जगम्यात् ॥

We, born of the race of Gotama, praise you, Agni, with acceptable (hymns), as the lord of riches; rubbing you, the bearer of oblations, (as a rider rubs down), a horse; may he who has acquired wealth by sacred rites, come hither quickly in the morning.
