यच्चि॒द्धि ते॒ विशो॑ यथा॒ प्र दे॑व वरुण व्र॒तम् । मि॒नी॒मसि॒ द्यवि॑द्यवि ॥ यच्चिद्धि ते विशो यथा प्र देव वरुण व्रतम् । मिनीमसि द्यविद्यवि ॥
Inasmuch as all people commit errors, so do we, divine Varuṇa, daily disfigure your worship by imperfections.
english translation
मा नो॑ व॒धाय॑ ह॒त्नवे॑ जिहीळा॒नस्य॑ रीरधः । मा हृ॑णा॒नस्य॑ म॒न्यवे॑ ॥ मा नो वधाय हत्नवे जिहीळानस्य रीरधः । मा हृणानस्य मन्यवे ॥
Make us not the objects of death, through your fatal indignation, through the wrath of you so displeasured.
english translation
वि मृ॑ळी॒काय॑ ते॒ मनो॑ र॒थीरश्वं॒ न संदि॑तम् । गी॒र्भिर्व॑रुण सीमहि ॥ वि मृळीकाय ते मनो रथीरश्वं न संदितम् । गीर्भिर्वरुण सीमहि ॥
We soothe your mind, Varuṇa, by our praises, for our good, as a charioteer his weary steed.
english translation
परा॒ हि मे॒ विम॑न्यव॒: पत॑न्ति॒ वस्य॑इष्टये । वयो॒ न व॑स॒तीरुप॑ ॥ परा हि मे विमन्यवः पतन्ति वस्यइष्टये । वयो न वसतीरुप ॥
My tranquil (meditations) revert to the desire of life, as birds hover around their nests. = vasya iṣṭaye = vasumataḥ, precious (i.e. jīvasya, life's).
english translation
क॒दा क्ष॑त्र॒श्रियं॒ नर॒मा वरु॑णं करामहे । मृ॒ळी॒कायो॑रु॒चक्ष॑सम् ॥ कदा क्षत्रश्रियं नरमा वरुणं करामहे । मृळीकायोरुचक्षसम् ॥
When for our happiness, shall we bring hither Varuṇa, eminent in strength, the guide (of men), the regarder of many?
