विराटस्य तु कैकेयी भार्या परमसंमता अवलॊकयन्ती ददृशे परासादाद दरुपदात्मजाम ।। ४-८-६ ।।

'And as she stood upon the terrace, casting her gaze here and there, Virata’s beloved queen—the daughter of the king of Kekaya—caught sight of Draupadi.' ।। 4-8-6 ।।

सा समीक्ष्य तथारूपाम अनाथाम एकवाससम समाहूयाब्रवीद भद्रे का तवं किं च चिकीर्षसि ।। ४-८-७ ।।

'Beholding her solitary and dressed in a single garment, the queen called out to her and said, 'O beautiful one, who are you, and what is it that you seek?'' ।। 4-8-7 ।।

सा ताम उवाच राजेन्द्र सैरन्ध्र्य अहम उपागता कर्म चेच्छाम्य अहं कर्तुं तस्य यॊ मां पुपुक्षति ।। ४-८-८ ।।

'Thereupon, Draupadi answered her, saying, "O noble queen, I am a Sairandhri. I seek to serve anyone who will offer me shelter and sustenance."' ।। 4-8-8 ।।

sA tAma uvAca rAjendra sairandhrya ahama upAgatA karma cecchAmya ahaM kartuM tasya yò mAM pupukSati || 4-8-8 ||

[सुदेस्णा] नैवंरूपा भवन्त्य एवं यथा वदसि भामिनि परेषयन्ति च वै दासीर दासांश चैवं विधान बहून ।। ४-८-९ ।।

'But Sudeshna replied, "What you say of your station does not match such extraordinary beauty. Rather, you appear as one who could command both male and female attendants—not serve as one yourself."' ।। 4-8-9 ।।

गूढगुल्फा संहतॊरुस तरिगम्भीरा षडुन्नता रक्ता पञ्चसु रक्तेषु हंसगद्गद भाषिणी ।। ४-८-१० ।।

'Your heels are well-formed and modest, and your thighs are close-set. Your intellect is keen, and your navel deep. Your words carry weight and grace. Your great toes, breasts, hips, back, sides, toe-nails, and palms—all are beautifully developed and proportioned. And your palms, soles, and face are ruddy. And your speech is sweet even as the voice of the swan.' ।। 4-8-10 ।।
