स निवृत्तॊ नरव्याघ्रॊ मुञ्चन वज्रनिभाञ शरान सचिवैः संवृतॊ राजा रथे नाग इव शवसन ॥ ४-६४-२६ ॥
'Thus addressed, King Duryodhana—that tiger among men, surrounded by his counsellors—sighing upon his chariot like a serpent coiled upon its bed, showered arrows swift and fierce as thunderbolts.' ॥ 4-64-26 ॥

तत्र मे रॊमहर्षॊ ऽभूद ऊरुस्तम्भश च मारिष यद अभ्रघनसंकाशम अनीकं वयधमच छरैः ॥ ४-६४-२७ ॥
'Beholding this, venerable sire, my thighs trembled, as I beheld that cloud-like host pierced in many places by countless arrows.' ॥ 4-64-27 ॥

तत परणुद्य रथानीकं सिंहसंहननॊ युवा कुरूंस तान परहसन राजन वासांस्य अपहरद बली ॥ ४-६४-२८ ॥
'Then that celestial youth, loosing his shafts upon the Kuru army of lion-like warriors, pierced and afflicted the multitude of chariots. Stout as a lion, he laughed at them and stripped them of their garments and ornaments.' ॥ 4-64-28 ॥

एकेन तेन वीरेण षड रथाः परिवारिताः शार्दूलेनेव मत्तेन मृगास तृणचरा वने ॥ ४-६४-२९ ॥
'Truly, the six mighty car-warriors of the Kurus were vanquished by that hero alone, like herds of forest beasts overpowered by a single raging tiger.' ॥ 4-64-29 ॥

[विराट] कव स वीरॊ महाबाहुर देवपुत्रॊ महायशाः यॊ मे धनम अवाजैषीत कुरुभिर गरस्तम आहवे ॥ ४-६४-३० ॥
'Virāṭa said: “Where is that mighty-armed, renowned youth of celestial origin—the hero who, in battle, recovered my wealth seized by the Kurus?"' ॥ 4-64-30 ॥
