तेन ता निर्जिता गावस तेन ते कुरवॊ जिताः तस्य तत कर्म वीरस्य न मया तात तत कृतम ॥ ४-६४-२१ ॥

'By his hand were the kine recovered, and by his might were the Kauravas subdued. The glory, O father, belongs not to me but to that hero alone.' ॥ 4-64-21 ॥

english translation

tena tA nirjitA gAvasa tena te kuravò jitAH tasya tata karma vIrasya na mayA tAta tata kRtama ॥ 4-64-21 ॥

स हि शारद्वतं दरॊणं दरॊणपुत्रं च वीर्यवान सूतपुत्रं च भीष्मं च चकार विमुखाञ शरैः ॥ ४-६४-२२ ॥

'It was he who drove back, with his shafts, Kripa and Drona, and Drona’s mighty son, the son of the Suta, and even Bhishma himself.' ॥ 4-64-22 ॥

english translation

sa hi zAradvataM daròNaM daròNaputraM ca vIryavAna sUtaputraM ca bhISmaM ca cakAra vimukhAJa zaraiH ॥ 4-64-22 ॥

दुर्यॊधनं च समरे स नागम इव यूथपम परभग्नम अब्रवीद भीतं राजपुत्रं महाबलम ॥ ४-६४-२३ ॥

'Then that mighty hero spoke to the terrified prince Duryodhana, who fled like the leader of an elephant herd:' ॥ 4-64-23 ॥

duryòdhanaM ca samare sa nAgama iva yUthapama parabhagnama abravIda bhItaM rAjaputraM mahAbalama ॥ 4-64-23 ॥

न हास्तिनपुरे तराणं तव पश्यामि किं चन वयायामेन परीप्सस्व जीवितं कौरवात्म ज ॥ ४-६४-२४ ॥

'O prince of the Kuru race, I see no place of safety for thee, not even in Hastinapura. Guard thy life by summoning all thy strength; flight will avail thee nothing.' ॥ 4-64-24 ॥

na hAstinapure tarANaM tava pazyAmi kiM cana vayAyAmena parIpsasva jIvitaM kauravAtma ja ॥ 4-64-24 ॥

न मॊक्ष्यसे पलायंस तवं राजन युद्धे मनः कुरु पृथिवीं भॊक्ष्यसे जित्वा हतॊ वा सवर्गम आप्स्यसि ॥ ४-६४-२५ ॥

'Therefore, steel thy mind for battle. Shouldst thou prevail, the sovereignty of the earth shall be thine; shouldst thou fall, heaven itself shall be thy reward.' ॥ 4-64-25 ॥

na mòkSyase palAyaMsa tavaM rAjana yuddhe manaH kuru pRthivIM bhòkSyase jitvA hatò vA savargama Apsyasi ॥ 4-64-25 ॥
