आचार्य पुत्रॊ यः शूरः सर्वशस्त भृताम अपि अश्वत्थामेति विख्यातः कथं तेन समागमः ।। ४-६४-१६ ।।

'And how, O child, couldst thou have encountered him—Aśvatthāman, the valiant son of the preceptor, renowned even among all wielders of weapons?' ।। 4-64-16 ।।

AcArya putrò yaH zUraH sarvazasta bhRtAma api azvatthAmeti vikhyAtaH kathaM tena samAgamaH || 4-64-16 ||

रणे यं परेक्ष्य सीदन्ति हृतस्वा वणिजॊ यथा कृपेण तेन ते तात कथम आसीत समागमः ।। ४-६४-१७ ।।

'O child, how couldst thou encounter in battle that Kripa—at the mere sight of whom warriors sink in despair, like merchants who have lost their wealth?' ।। 4-64-17 ।।

raNe yaM parekSya sIdanti hRtasvA vaNijò yathA kRpeNa tena te tAta kathama AsIta samAgamaH || 4-64-17 ||

पर्वतं यॊ ऽभिविध्येत राजपुत्रॊ महेषुभिः दुर्यॊधनेन ते तात कथम आसीत समागमः ।। ४-६४-१८ ।।

'How couldst thou have faced Duryodhana—the prince who, with his mighty shafts, is said to pierce even mountains?' ।। 4-64-18 ।।

parvataM yò 'bhividhyeta rAjaputrò maheSubhiH duryòdhanena te tAta kathama AsIta samAgamaH || 4-64-18 ||

[उत्तर] न मया निर्जिता गावॊ न मया निर्जिताः परे कृतं तु कर्म तत सर्वं देवपुत्रेण केन चित ।। ४-६४-१९ ।।

'Uttara said, ‘It was not by me that the kine were recovered, nor was it I who subdued the foe. All this was achieved by the son of a celestial being.'' ।। 4-64-19 ।।

[uttara] na mayA nirjitA gAvò na mayA nirjitAH pare kRtaM tu karma tata sarvaM devaputreNa kena cita || 4-64-19 ||

स हि भीतं दरवन्तं मां देवपुत्रॊ नयवारयत स चातिष्ठद रथॊपस्थे वज्रहस्तनिभॊ युवा ।। ४-६४-२० ।।

'Like the wielder of the thunderbolt, that youthful son of a celestial, seeing me flee in terror, checked my flight and himself mounted my chariot.' ।। 4-64-20 ।।

sa hi bhItaM daravantaM mAM devaputrò nayavArayata sa cAtiSThada rathòpasthe vajrahastanibhò yuvA || 4-64-20 ||
