ततॊ हृष्टॊ मत्स्यराजः कषत्तारम इदम अब्रवीत परवेश्यताम उभौ तूर्णं दर्शनेप्सुर अहं तयॊः ॥ ४-६३-५१ ॥

'At these words, King Virāṭa, his heart rejoicing, said, ‘Bring them both in at once, for I long to behold them.’' ॥ 4-63-51 ॥

tatò hRSTò matsyarAjaH kaSattArama idama abravIta paravezyatAma ubhau tUrNaM darzanepsura ahaM tayòH ॥ 4-63-51 ॥

कषत्तारं कुरुराजस तु शनैः कर्ण उपाजपत उत्तरः परविशत्व एकॊ न परेवेश्या बृहन्नडा ॥ ४-६३-५२ ॥

'But Yudhishthira, lord of the Kurus, softly whispered into the warder’s ear: ‘Let Uttara enter alone; Vrihannalā must not be admitted.’' ॥ 4-63-52 ॥

kaSattAraM kururAjasa tu zanaiH karNa upAjapata uttaraH paravizatva ekò na parevezyA bRhannaDA ॥ 4-63-52 ॥

एतस्य हि महाबाहॊ वरतम एतत समाहितम यॊ ममाङ्गे वरणं कुर्याच छॊणितं वापि दर्शयेत अन्यत्र संग्रामगनान न स जीवेद असंशयम ॥ ४-६३-५३ ॥

'For such is the vow of that mighty-armed hero—that whoever, save in battle, inflicts a wound upon me or causes my blood to flow, shall not live.' ॥ 4-63-53 ॥

etasya hi mahAbAhò varatama etata samAhitama yò mamAGge varaNaM kuryAca chòNitaM vApi darzayeta anyatra saMgrAmaganAna na sa jIveda asaMzayama ॥ 4-63-53 ॥

न मृष्याद भृशसंक्रुद्धॊ मां दृष्ट्वैव स शॊणितम विराटम इह सामात्यं हन्यात सबलवाहनम ॥ ४-६३-५४ ॥

'Inflamed with wrath, he would never endure the sight of me bleeding, but would even now slay Virāṭa, together with his counsellors, his troops, and his steeds.' ॥ 4-63-54 ॥

na mRSyAda bhRzasaMkruddhò mAM dRSTvaiva sa zòNitama virATama iha sAmAtyaM hanyAta sabalavAhanama ॥ 4-63-54 ॥
