[वै] परवर्तमाने दयूते तु मत्स्यः पाण्डवम अब्रवीत पश्य पुत्रेण मे युद्धे तादृशाः कुरवॊ जिताः ॥ ४-६३-३६ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'While the game was in progress, the Matsya king said to the son of Pandu, 'Behold, my son has vanquished the formidable Kauravas in battle.'' ॥ 4-63-36 ॥
english translation
ततॊ ऽबरवीन मत्स्यराजं धर्मपुत्रॊ युधिष्ठिरः बृहन्नडा यस्य यन्ता कथं स न विजेष्यति ॥ ४-६३-३७ ॥
'Thereupon, the illustrious Yudhishthira remarked, 'How could he fail who has Vrihannala for his charioteer?'' ॥ 4-63-37 ॥
english translation
इत्य उक्तः कुपितॊ राजा मत्स्यः पाण्डवम अब्रवीत समपुत्रेण मे षण्ढं बरह्म बन्धॊ परशंसति ॥ ४-६३-३८ ॥
'Thus addressed, the mighty King of the Matsyas, filled with wrath, said to the son of Pandu: 'O wretched Brahmana, how darest thou compare one of the neuter sex with my son?'' ॥ 4-63-38 ॥
english translation
वाच्यावाच्यं न जानीषे नूनं माम अवमन्यसे भीष्मद्रॊणमुखान सर्वान कस्मान न स विजेष्यति ॥ ४-६३-३९ ॥
'Hast thou no understanding of what is fitting or unfitting to speak? Truly, thou dost show me disrespect. How could my son fail to overcome all those commanded by Bhishma and Drona?' ॥ 4-63-39 ॥
english translation
वयस्यत्वात तु ते बरह्मन्न अपराधम इमं कषमे नेदृशं ते पुनर वाच्यं यदि जीवितुम इच्छसि ॥ ४-६३-४० ॥
'O Brahmana, for the sake of friendship alone, I forgive this offence of thine. But heed me well—speak thus no more, if thou value thy life.' ॥ 4-63-40 ॥
