पितामहं शांतनवं स वृद्धं; दरॊणं गुरुं च परतिपूज्य मूर्ध्ना दरौणिं कृपं चैव गुरूंश च सर्वाञ; शरैर विचित्रैर अभिवाद्य चैव ।। ४-६१-२६ ।।

'Having respectfully worshipped the aged grandsire, the son of Santanu, as well as the preceptor Drona, and having saluted Drona’s son, Kripa, and other venerable Kuru elders with his finely aimed arrows.' ।। 4-61-26 ।।

pitAmahaM zAMtanavaM sa vRddhaM; daròNaM guruM ca paratipUjya mUrdhnA darauNiM kRpaM caiva gurUMza ca sarvAJa; zaraira vicitraira abhivAdya caiva || 4-61-26 ||

दुर्यॊधनस्यॊत्तम रत्नचित्रं; चिच्छेद पार्थॊ मुकुटं शरेण आमन्त्र्य वीरांश च तथैव मान्यान; गाण्डीवघॊषेण विनाद्य लॊकान ।। ४-६१-२७ ।।

'The son of Pritha shattered Duryodhana’s crown, adorned with precious gems, with a single arrow. Having thus respectfully saluted all the venerable and valiant warriors, he made the three worlds resound with the twang of his Gandiva.' ।। 4-61-27 ।।

duryòdhanasyòttama ratnacitraM; ciccheda pArthò mukuTaM zareNa Amantrya vIrAMza ca tathaiva mAnyAna; gANDIvaghòSeNa vinAdya lòkAna || 4-61-27 ||

स देवदत्तं सहसा विनाद्य; विदार्य वीरॊ दविषतां मनांसि धवजेन सर्वान अभिभूय शत्रून; स हेमजालेन विराजमानः ।। ४-६१-२८ ।।

And suddenly blowing his conch, Devadatta, the hero pierced the hearts of all his foes. Having humbled the enemies, he shone resplendent on his car, adorned with a magnificent banner.

'And beholding the Kurus retreat, Kiritin cheerfully said to the son of Matsya: 'Turn back thy steeds; the kine have been recovered, and the foe is in flight. Return now to thy city with a joyful heart.' ।। 4-61-29 ।।
