[अर्ज] विहाय कीर्तिं विपुलं यशश च; युद्धात परावृत्य पलायसे किम न ते ऽदय तूर्याणि समाहतानि; यथावद उद्यान्ति गतस्य युद्धे ।। ४-६०-१६ ।।

'Sacrificing thy great fame and glory, why dost thou turn and flee? Where are now the trumpet blasts that resounded when thou set out from thy kingdom?' ।। 4-60-16 ।।

[arja] vihAya kIrtiM vipulaM yazaza ca; yuddhAta parAvRtya palAyase kima na te 'daya tUryANi samAhatAni; yathAvada udyAnti gatasya yuddhe || 4-60-16 ||

युधिष्ठिरस्यास्मि निदेशकारी; पार्थस तृतीयॊ युधि च सथिरॊ ऽसमि तदर्थम आवृत्य मुखं परयच्छ; नरेन्द्र वृत्तं समर धार्तराष्ट्र ।। ४-६०-१७ ।।

'Behold, I, the third son of Pritha and faithful servant of Yudhishthira, stand here ready for battle. Turn back and show me thy face, O son of Dhritarashtra, and take heed of the conduct befitting kings.' ।। 4-60-17 ।।

yudhiSThirasyAsmi nidezakArI; pArthasa tRtIyò yudhi ca sathirò 'sami tadarthama AvRtya mukhaM parayaccha; narendra vRttaM samara dhArtarASTra || 4-60-17 ||

'The fame that was once thine, Duryodhana, is now of no account. When thou fleest from battle, leaving the field, where is thy steadfastness?' ।। 4-60-18 ।।

mòghaM tavedaM bhuvi nAmadheyaM; duryòdhanetIha kRtaM purastAta na hIha duryòdhanatA tavAsti; palAyamAnasya raNaM vihAya || 4-60-18 ||

'Thy bodyguards I see neither before nor behind. O foremost of men, flee if thou wilt, and save thy life, so dear, from the hands of the son of Pritha.' ।। 4-60-19 ।।
