अर्जुनॊ ऽपि शरांश चित्रान भीष्माय निशितान बहून चिक्षेप सुमहातेजास तथा भीष्मश च पाण्डवे ।। ४-५९-२६ ।।
'In turn, Arjuna, endowed with immense energy, rained innumerable sharp and keen-edged shafts upon Bhīṣma. And Santanu’s son, undaunted, again covered the son of Pāṇḍu with volleys of arrows.' ।। 4-59-26 ।।
'Both conversant with celestial weapons, they struck each other with relentless volleys, so that, O king, no distinction could be seen between those illustrious warriors.' ।। 4-59-27 ।।
अथावृणॊद दश दिशः शरैर अति रथैस तदा किरीटमाली कौन्तेयः शूरः शांतनवस तथा ।। ४-५९-२८ ।।
'Then that mighty car-warrior, the diademed son of Kunti, and the valiant son of Shantanu, shrouded the ten directions with their arrows.' ।। 4-59-28 ।।
'And the Pandava enveloped Bhishma with clouds of shafts, even as Bhishma covered the Pandava in return. Wonderful indeed, O king, was that combat which took place in the world of men.' ।। 4-59-29 ।।
'And the valiant warriors who guarded Bhishma’s car were struck down by the son of Pandu and fell lifeless beside Kunti’s son’s chariot.' ।। 4-59-30 ।।
