एवम आश्वासितस तेन वैराटिः सव्यसाचिना वयगाहत रथानीकं भीमं भीष्मस्य धीमतः ॥ ४-५६-१६ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, “Thus heartened by Savyasachin, the son of Virata plunged into the fierce array of chariots guarded by Bhishma."' ॥ 4-56-16 ॥
english translation
evama AzvAsitasa tena vairATiH savyasAcinA vayagAhata rathAnIkaM bhImaM bhISmasya dhImataH ॥ 4-56-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतम आयान्तं महाबाहुं जिगीषन्तं रणे परान अभ्यवारयद अव्यग्रः करूरकर्मा धनंजयम ॥ ४-५६-१७ ॥
'That mighty-armed one coming forth, seeking to conquer enemies in battle - the one of cruel deeds confronted Dhananjaya without agitation.' ॥ 4-56-17 ॥

tama AyAntaM mahAbAhuM jigISantaM raNe parAna abhyavArayada avyagraH karUrakarmA dhanaMjayama ॥ 4-56-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतं चित्रमाल्याभरणाः कृतविद्या मनस्विनः आगच्छन भीमधन्वानं मौर्वीं पर्यस्य बाहुभिः ॥ ४-५६-१८ ॥
'Those skilled ones of noble spirit, adorned with bright garlands and ornaments, came to him who bears the mighty bow, wrapping the bowstring around their arms.' ॥ 4-56-18 ॥

taM citramAlyAbharaNAH kRtavidyA manasvinaH Agacchana bhImadhanvAnaM maurvIM paryasya bAhubhiH ॥ 4-56-18 ॥

'At this, four mighty warriors—Dushasana, Vikarna, Dushaha, and Vivingsati—skilled in arms and endowed with great strength, adorned with handsome garlands and ornaments, charged toward the formidable bowman.' ॥ 4-56-19 ॥

'Advancing upon Vibhatsu—the fierce archer—all these warriors surrounded him. Then the heroic Dushasana struck the son of Virata with a crescent-shaped arrow, and followed by piercing Arjuna in the chest with another.' ॥ 4-56-20 ॥
