'Then the warriors who followed the son of Radha rushed in crowds against Arjuna, but Partha, loosing arrows from his Gandiva, sent them all to Yama’s abode.' ।। 4-55-21 ।।
ततॊ ऽसयाश्वाञ शरैस तीक्ष्णैर बीभत्सुर भारसाधनैः आ कर्ण मुक्तैर अभ्यघ्नंस ते हताः परापतन भुवि ।। ४-५५-२२ ।।
'Vibhatsu slew the steeds of Karna with sharp and unyielding arrows shot from his fully drawn bow, and the animals fell lifeless to the ground.' ।। 4-55-22 ।।
'Taking another blazing arrow, charged with mighty energy, the son of Kunti pierced Karna’s breast; the shaft tore through his armor and struck deep into his body.' ।। 4-55-23 ।।
तस्य भित्त्वा तनुत्राणं कायम अभ्यपतच छिरः ततः स तमसाविष्टॊ न सम किं चित परजज्ञिवान ।। ४-५५-२४ ।।
'Striking him, he broke through Karna’s armor and pierced his body. Overwhelmed by darkness and pain, Karna lost all awareness and comprehension of what was happening around him.' ।। 4-55-24 ।।
स गाढवेदनॊ हित्वा रणं परायाद उदङ्मुखः ततॊ ऽरजुन उपाक्रॊशद उत्तरश च महारथः ।। ४-५५-२५ ।।
'At this, Karna’s vision grew dim and his senses deserted him. When he regained consciousness, he felt excruciating pain and, abandoning the fight, fled northward. Observing this, the mighty car-warrior Arjuna and Uttara both hurled taunts at him.' ।। 4-55-25 ।।
