स गाढवेदनॊ हित्वा रणं परायाद उदङ्मुखः ततॊ ऽरजुन उपाक्रॊशद उत्तरश च महारथः ॥ ४-५५-२५ ॥
'At this, Karna’s vision grew dim and his senses deserted him. When he regained consciousness, he felt excruciating pain and, abandoning the fight, fled northward. Observing this, the mighty car-warrior Arjuna and Uttara both hurled taunts at him.' ॥ 4-55-25 ॥
