[वै] ते वीरा बद्धनिस्त्रिंशास ततायुध कलापिनः बद्धगॊधाङ्गुलि तराणाः कालिन्दीम अभितॊ ययुः ॥ ४-५-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said: "Girding themselves with swords, equipped with strung bows, leather finger-guards made of iguana skin, and various weapons, those heroic warriors moved toward the Yamuna."' ॥ 4-5-1 ॥
english translation
[vai] te vIrA baddhanistriMzAsa tatAyudha kalApinaH baddhagòdhAGguli tarANAH kAlindIma abhitò yayuH ॥ 4-5-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस ते दक्षिणं तीरम अन्वगच्छन पदातयः वसन्तॊ गिरिदुर्गेषु वनदुर्गेषु धन्विनः ॥ ४-५-२ ॥
'And those bowmen, eager to regain their kingdom, who had long dwelt in the inaccessible hills and forest strongholds, now brought their forest-life to a close and moved toward the southern bank of the river.' ॥ 4-5-2 ॥

tatasa te dakSiNaM tIrama anvagacchana padAtayaH vasantò giridurgeSu vanadurgeSu dhanvinaH ॥ 4-5-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविध्यन्तॊ मृगजातानि महेष्वासा महाबलाः उत्तरेण दशार्णांस ते पाञ्चालान दक्षिणेन तु ॥ ४-५-३ ॥
'Those mighty warriors, possessed of great strength, who had thus far lived as hunters, sustaining themselves by slaying forest deer, now journeyed onward. Passing through Yakrilloma and Surasena, they left the land of the Panchalas to their right and the country of the Dasarnas to their left.' ॥ 4-5-3 ॥

vidhyantò mRgajAtAni maheSvAsA mahAbalAH uttareNa dazArNAMsa te pAJcAlAna dakSiNena tu ॥ 4-5-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्तरेण यकृल्लॊमाञ शूरसेनांश च पाण्डवाः लुब्धा बरुवाणा मत्स्यस्य विषयं पराविशन वनात ॥ ४-५-४ ॥
'And those bowmen, pale of hue and bearded, with swords at their sides, emerged from the forest and entered the dominions of the Matsyas, presenting themselves as hunters.' ॥ 4-5-4 ॥

antareNa yakRllòmAJa zUrasenAMza ca pANDavAH lubdhA baruvANA matsyasya viSayaM parAvizana vanAta ॥ 4-5-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ जनपदं पराप्य कृष्णा राजानम अब्रवीत पश्यैकपद्यॊ दृश्यन्ते कषेत्राणि विविधानि च ॥ ४-५-५ ॥
'Then, having reached the countryside/kingdom, Krishna said to the king: 'Look, various fields can be seen extending in single rows/lines, and diverse (crops/lands) as well.'' ॥ 4-5-5 ॥

tatò janapadaM parApya kRSNA rAjAnama abravIta pazyaikapadyò dRzyante kaSetrANi vividhAni ca ॥ 4-5-5 ॥
