बलस्य वयसनानीह यान्य उक्तानि मनीषिभिः मुख्यॊ भेदॊ हि तेषां वै पापिष्ठॊ विदुषां मतः ।। ४-४६-११ ।।

'Among all the calamities that wise men have listed as afflicting an army, disunion among its leaders is the greatest.' ।। 4-46-11 ।।

balasya vayasanAnIha yAnya uktAni manISibhiH mukhyò bhedò hi teSAM vai pApiSThò viduSAM mataH || 4-46-11 ||

[अष्वत्थ] आचार्य एव कषमतां शान्तिर अत्र विधीयताम अभिषज्यमाने हि गुरौ तद्वृत्तं रॊषकारितम ।। ४-४६-१२ ।।

'Aswatthaman said, ‘O bull among men, your just observations need not be voiced before us. Yet the preceptor, filled with wrath, has spoken of Arjuna’s virtues. Even the virtues of an enemy should be acknowledged, while the faults of one’s own preceptor may be exposed. Thus, to the best of one’s ability, the merits of a son or disciple should be declared.’' ।। 4-46-12 ।।

[aSvattha] AcArya eva kaSamatAM zAntira atra vidhIyatAma abhiSajyamAne hi gurau tadvRttaM ròSakAritama || 4-46-12 ||

[वै] ततॊ दुर्यॊधनॊ दरॊणं कषमयाम आस भारत सह कर्णेन भीष्मेण कृपेण च महात्मना ।। ४-४६-१३ ।।

'Vaisampayana continued, “Then, O Bharata, Duryodhana, supported by Kama and Kripa, and the noble-hearted Bhishma, pacified Drona.”' ।। 4-46-13 ।।

[vai] tatò duryòdhanò daròNaM kaSamayAma Asa bhArata saha karNena bhISmeNa kRpeNa ca mahAtmanA || 4-46-13 ||

[दरॊण] यद एव परथमं वाक्यं भीष्मः शांतनवॊ ऽबरवीत तेनैवाहं परसन्नॊ वै परमम अत्र विधीयताम ।। ४-४६-१४ ।।

'Drona said, “I am already appeased by the first words spoken by Bhishma, son of Santanu.”' ।। 4-46-14 ।।

[daròNa] yada eva parathamaM vAkyaM bhISmaH zAMtanavò 'baravIta tenaivAhaM parasannò vai paramama atra vidhIyatAma || 4-46-14 ||

यथा दुर्यॊधने ऽयत्ते नागः सपृशति सैनिकान साहसद यदि वा मॊहात तथा नीतिर विधीयताम ।। ४-४६-१५ ।।

'Let arrangements be made so that Partha (Arjuna) cannot reach Duryodhana in battle. Likewise, ensure that King Duryodhana is not captured by the foe, whether through rashness or lack of judgment.' ।। 4-46-15 ।।
