एकश च पञ्चवर्षाणि बरह्मचर्यम अधारयत एकः सुभद्राम आरॊप्य दवैरथे कृष्णम आह्वयत अस्मिन्न एव वने कृष्णॊ हृतां कृष्णाम अवाजयत ॥ ४-४४-६ ॥
'He lived the life of a Brahmacharin for five years upon the breast of Himavat. Taking Subhadra on his chariot, he alone dared to challenge Krishna to single combat. Alone he fought with Rudra, who appeared before him disguised as a forester. It was in this very forest that Partha rescued Krishna when she was being abducted by Jayadratha.' ॥ 4-44-6 ॥
