'Our agreement was that the Trigartas would first, on the afternoon of the seventh lunar day, carry off the great wealth of cattle belonging to the Matsyas; and that we, at sunrise on the eighteenth day of the moon, would seize the remaining cattle when the king of the Matsyas set out in pursuit of those first taken.' ।। 4-42-11 ।।
ते वा गावॊ न पश्यन्ति यदि व सयुः पराजिताः अस्मान वाप्य अतिसंधाय कुर्युर मत्स्येन संगतम ।। ४-४२-१२ ।।
'It may be that the Trigartas are now driving away the cattle, or, having been defeated, are returning to us to negotiate with the king of the Matsyas.' ।। 4-42-12 ।।
'Or perhaps, having routed the Trigartas, the Matsya king—at the head of his people and his entire host of fierce warriors—now appears on the field, advancing to launch a night attack upon us.' ।। 4-42-13 ।।
