बधासिः स तनुत्राणः परगृहीतशरासनः ततः परायाद उदीचीं स कपिप्रवर केतनः ।। ४-४१-६ ।।

'Beholding that banner now mounted upon his chariot, the hero reverently circumambulated it. Then Vibhatsu, the ape-bannered son of Kunti, also called Swetavahana, his fingers guarded with leathern coverings of iguana skin, took up his bow and arrows and set forth toward the north.' ।। 4-41-6 ।।

badhAsiH sa tanutrANaH paragRhItazarAsanaH tataH parAyAda udIcIM sa kapipravara ketanaH || 4-41-6 ||

सवनवन्तं महाशङ्खं बलवान अरिमर्दनः पराधमद बलम आस्थाय दविषतां लॊमहर्षणम ।। ४-४१-७ ।।

'That crusher of foes, endowed with immense strength, then forcefully blew his great conch of thunderous sound — a blast that could make the hair of his enemies stand on end.' ।। 4-41-7 ।।

savanavantaM mahAzaGkhaM balavAna arimardanaH parAdhamada balama AsthAya daviSatAM lòmaharSaNama || 4-41-7 ||

तत ते जवना धुर्या जानुभ्याम अगमन महीम उत्तरश चापि संत्रस्तॊ रथॊपस्थ उपाविशत ।। ४-४१-८ ।।

'At the sound of that conch, the swift steeds dropped to their knees upon the ground, and Uttara, greatly alarmed, sank down within the chariot.' ।। 4-41-8 ।।

tata te javanA dhuryA jAnubhyAma agamana mahIma uttaraza cApi saMtrastò rathòpastha upAvizata || 4-41-8 ||

संस्थाप्य चाश्वान कौन्तेयः समुद्यम्य च रश्मिभिः उत्तरं च परिष्वज्य समाश्वासयद अर्जुनः ।। ४-४१-९ ।।

'Thereupon the son of Kunti took the reins himself and, raising the steeds, set them in their proper places.' ।। 4-41-9 ।।

'Embracing Uttara, he sought to reassure him, saying, “Fear not, O foremost of princes. Thou art, O chastiser of foes, a Kshatriya by birth. Why, O tiger among men, dost thou lose heart in the midst of adversaries?' ।। 4-41-10 ।।
