सॊमः पञ्चशतं राजा तथैव वरुणः शतम पार्थः पञ्च च षष्टिं च वर्षाणि शवेतवाहनः ।। ४-३८-४१ ।।
'Then Soma, the king, held it for five hundred years; likewise, Varuṇa bore it for a hundred years. And now Pārtha, called Śvetavāhana, has wielded it for sixty-five years.' ।। 4-38-41 ।।
'Endued with immense energy and of lofty celestial origin, this is the finest of all bows. Revered among gods and men, it possesses a noble and splendid form.' ।। 4-38-42 ।।
' Pārtha received this radiant bow from Varuṇa himself. This other bow, with its golden handle and graceful curves, belongs to Bhīma—the son of Pṛthā and scourge of his enemies—with which he conquered the entire eastern quarter.' ।। 4-38-43 ।।
