इति सम कुरवः सर्वे विमृशन्तः पृथक पृथक न च वयवसितुं किं चिद उत्तरं शक्नुवन्ति ते छन्नं तथा तं सत्रेण पाण्डवं परेक्ष्य भारत ॥ ४-३६-३६ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued: “Beholding the disguised son of Pandu, the Kauravas, O Bharata, began to speculate in many ways. Yet, they could not arrive at any definite conclusion."' ॥ 4-36-36 ॥
english translation
iti sama kuravaH sarve vimRzantaH pRthaka pRthaka na ca vayavasituM kiM cida uttaraM zaknuvanti te channaM tathA taM satreNa pANDavaM parekSya bhArata ॥ 4-36-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तरं तु परधावन्तम अनुद्रुत्य धनंजयः गत्वा पदशतं तूर्णं केशपक्षे परामृशत ॥ ४-३६-३७ ॥
'Meanwhile, Dhananjaya swiftly pursued the fleeing Uttara and, within a hundred steps, seized him by the hair.' ॥ 4-36-37 ॥

uttaraM tu paradhAvantama anudrutya dhanaMjayaH gatvA padazataM tUrNaM kezapakSe parAmRzata ॥ 4-36-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसॊ ऽरजुनेन परामृष्टः पर्यदेवयद आर्तवत बहुलं कृपणं चैव विराटस्य सुतस तदा ॥ ४-३६-३८ ॥
'Seized by Arjuna, the son of Virata then lamented aloud, filled with fear and despair, revealing much of his weakness and helplessness.' ॥ 4-36-38 ॥
english translation
sò 'rajunena parAmRSTaH paryadevayada Artavata bahulaM kRpaNaM caiva virATasya sutasa tadA ॥ 4-36-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशातकुम्भस्य शुद्धस्य शतं निष्कान ददामिते मणीन इष्टौ च वैडूर्यान हेमबद्धान महाप्रभान ॥ ४-३६-३९ ॥
'Hear me, O noble Vrihannala, thou of the graceful waist! Turn the chariot swiftly about. Fortune favors those who live! I will give thee a hundred coins of pure gold, Eight gleaming lapis lazuli set in gold.' ॥ 4-36-39 ॥

zAtakumbhasya zuddhasya zataM niSkAna dadAmite maNIna iSTau ca vaiDUryAna hemabaddhAna mahAprabhAna ॥ 4-36-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहेमदण्डप्रतिच्छन्नं रथं युक्तं च सुव्रजैः मत्तांश च दश मातङ्गान मुञ्च मां तवं बृहण्णडे ॥ ४-३६-४० ॥
'A chariot adorned with a golden flagstaff and drawn by excellent steeds, And ten fierce and powerful elephants. Therefore, O Vrihannala, grant me my freedom!' ॥ 4-36-40 ॥

hemadaNDapraticchannaM rathaM yuktaM ca suvrajaiH mattAMza ca daza mAtaGgAna muJca mAM tavaM bRhaNNaDe ॥ 4-36-40 ॥
