दुर्यॊधनं शांतनवं कर्णं वैकर्तनं कृपम दरॊणं च सह पुत्रेण महेष्वासान समागतान ॥ ४-३४-६ ॥

'Like a second wielder of the thunderbolt, terrifying the Danavas, I will bring back the kine this very moment, striking fear in battle into Duryodhana, Bhishma, Karna, Kripa, Drona and his son, and all the mighty bowmen assembled for war.' ॥ 4-34-6 ॥

duryòdhanaM zAMtanavaM karNaM vaikartanaM kRpama daròNaM ca saha putreNa maheSvAsAna samAgatAna ॥ 4-34-6 ॥

वित्रासयित्वा संग्रामे दानवान इव वज्रभृत अनेनैव मुहूर्तेन पुनः परत्यानये पशून ॥ ४-३४-७ ॥

'Having terrified the enemy in battle like the thunderbolt-wielding gods, at this very moment I will again bring back the kine.' ॥ 4-34-7 ॥

vitrAsayitvA saMgrAme dAnavAna iva vajrabhRta anenaiva muhUrtena punaH paratyAnaye pazUna ॥ 4-34-7 ॥

शून्यम आसाद्य कुरवः परयान्त्य आदाय गॊधनम किं नु शक्यं मया कर्तुं यद अहं तत्र नाभवम ॥ ४-३४-८ ॥

'Having found the place empty, the Kurus are carrying away the cattle. What indeed can I do, since I am not there?' ॥ 4-34-8 ॥

zUnyama AsAdya kuravaH parayAntya AdAya gòdhanama kiM nu zakyaM mayA kartuM yada ahaM tatra nAbhavama ॥ 4-34-8 ॥

पश्येयुर अद्य मे वीर्यं कुरवस ते समागताः किं नु पार्थॊ ऽरजुनः साक्षाद अयम अस्मान परबाधते ॥ ४-३४-९ ॥

'Today, the assembled Kurus shall witness my prowess firsthand. And they will say among themselves, “Is it truly Arjuna himself who stands against us?”' ॥ 4-34-9 ॥

pazyeyura adya me vIryaM kuravasa te samAgatAH kiM nu pArthò 'rajunaH sAkSAda ayama asmAna parabAdhate ॥ 4-34-9 ॥

[वै] तस्य तद वचनं सत्रीषु भाषतः सम पुनः पुनः नामर्षयत पाञ्चाली बीभत्सॊः परिकीर्तनम ॥ ४-३४-१० ॥

'Vaisampayana continued: Having heard these words spoken by the prince, Arjuna, fully understanding their meaning, after a short pause, spoke cheerfully in private to his flawless and beautiful wife, Krishna — the princess of Panchala, daughter of Drupada, slender and born of the sacrificial fire, endowed with truthfulness and honesty, and always attentive to the welfare of her husbands.' ॥ 4-34-10 ॥
